As the boat drew nearer to the arch

She could see what the others meant

This was not just any ordinary bridge

Certainly not one she should circumvent

Rather one, whose reflection, did cast

A full circle, ever still, in the water’s flow

And on the other side, could be seen

The gentle breezes, of winds that blow

Serenity lived, beyond the stone expanse

She was anxious, now, to make it through

Knowing she’d never get a second chance

She crossed over, disappearing from view

What is it, with you humans, and dressing up your pets?
Can’t you see how silly, this whole thing really gets?

At first, it’s just a bandana, then another thing or two
Enough already, seriously, I’m starting to look like you!

It doesn’t matter how much, I protest this ludicrous clothing
I finally figured it out, aha! I’m wearing what you’re loathing!

You decided, you don’t like it, so it means I probably will
Guess again, come on, for real? I’m not looking very chill

Okay, I’ll admit I’m intrigued, I really like the glasses
But next time, please, if you will, put them on the asses

January Writing Prompt – It was a ludicrous request but one that drew his attention – Day 22/31

Many secrets were held
In the gems around her neck
Well hidden, years past and present

Though none ever knew
She wore it, quite overt
Always knowing, just what it meant

Smiling, each time
She’d touch the jewels
Remembering all, who came before

Counting the days
Until, it was time
She could, again, add one more

Poor fellow, he
Who courted and wooed
He didn’t stand a single chance

Rosa merely kept him
For her next kill
Twas her secret to true romance

A braver attempt had never before been seen

There was a fire in the sky, hungry and mean

He stood high, on the ridge, watching below

Awaiting the hour, in which he knew, he must go

To the aid of the villagers, there would be no dispute

For this fiery menace, would soon know him, a brute

He was suited for battle, against a foe he knew not

With only a shield and spear, this Spartan, fraught

Did gather himself, and set off, across the land

With the power of the gods, at his command

He fought through the day, and just before night

He returned to the villagers, a welcomed sight

Once again, on the mountain top, he guards his keep

While the beast in the sky, is at last, fast asleep

One last yank, then a pull and the landing was clear

Sylvia plummeted down, into his hand, on her rear!

Thinking she was heading, in a different direction

Realizing too late, to make the proper correction

She braced for the best and expected the worst

This, the flight of her life, must surely be cursed

How could she be, so far off course, and then land

In the palm of a stranger, she’d have to demand

He release her at once, she was not too amused

But he wouldn’t let go, said he’d have to refuse

If he let her move on, it would cost him his pride

Said he paid, way too much, for his mail order bride
