She has the loudest roar, than any child I’ve heard

Forget trying to talk to her, she’ll never hear a word

This child, knows how to get her way, she screams

She’s the one, appearing, in nightmarish dreams

Stamping feet and pouting face, until you cave

Once in a while, I really wish, she’d just behave!

Good thing they make plugs, to stick in my ears

Otherwise, along with her, I too, would be in tears

I sigh, and then I calm her, wipe the hurt away

Praying to the Lord above, help her stay this way

But I know it’s not over, there are more heading fast

Oh, how I hate the tweens, and hope they leave real fast

As a mom, I know I must endure, the good along with the bad

I wouldn’t trade it for anything, it’s the best job I’ve ever had!

Dedicated to all the mom’s who have those 12-14 year olds, still finding their footing. 🙂

The mighty raptor

His feathers, riding the wind

Screams, just look at me

Is There? ~ #dark #poetry

If I screamed, would you come running

Or stand nearby, afraid to face my darkness?

Would you comfort me ,and bring me toward the light

Or would you cower in a corner, knowing my demons would win?

*

Is there a promise to keep, to guard my soul?

Is there a power within me, to take control?

Is there a will in your heart, to make me whole?

Nothing need be said, nor meant to console…

*

For I shall remain silent, locked inside myself,

Continuing to listen to nothing, afraid to hear myself speak

And the sounds within me, will deafen you, but quiet me,

mute me, until the only sound, the staccato of my breath.

Lying in bed, eyes starting to close

Something bumped into me, so much for the doze

Yet nobody’s here, in this dark little space

Just shadows in corners, I’m still, just in case

I’m really not in here, alone, by myself

Nothing is moving, but the clock on the shelf

I figure it’s my imagination, gone wild, once again

So I close my eyes slowly, and exhale from within

Wait, something’s not right, as the fan starts to whir

Looking around, I can see someone stir

Blowing about on the wisp of a breeze

Moving in circles, gyrating, I freeze

I open my mouth, and scream, quite out loud

Discerning, this vision, of the unearthly crowd

Night, the blackest of day takes over

When dreams become terror, indecent exposure

Hiding in the corners, where shadows keep

Creeping, awakening from slumber deep

Haunting, with such a clever disguise

As flickering lights, fall and rise

Allowing them to dance with glee

Yet, as dark returns, their symphony

Does serenade my imagination

This singing, without provocation

Realizing now, it’s all part of their scheme

As I awaken to the sound of my own scream
