Colors taken from my eyes, black and white before me; memories sway under clouded skies, how I long for this to restore me. Amazed by how it still stands there, tall, though bowed in the middle, such grace; I’m pretty sure eventually, I’ll fall, while this house still stands in its place. Structured to last throughout the storms, its life perseveres, timeless; my only hope is to me, it warms, so I may cling to its fortitude, with kindness.

*****

To follow the path of the once, so grand, the home where I grew, I return to; I no longer own this land, although, truly, I desperately yearn to. Instead, I walk the grounds at night, afraid of the light of day; tis why my world is in black and white, and how it will forever stay. Now only spirit, no mortal being, I wander throughout this home, knowing there is no one seeing, I am free to be me…and roam.

Margaret and Mary would meet in the street

Two old biddies, though neither was sweet

Each day, a chore, they chose for the other

Which only caused them, to continually mutter

Under their breath, they’d curse out their lives

Seems they always dreamed, of being richly wives

Instead they found themselves, cleaning their mess

Same outfit, every day, same old worn out dress

Vowing once, and for all, to get justice served

They planned a great heist, for things they deserved

Each filled her pockets, with jewels, and cash, to boot

Tried to leave the mansions, stuffed to the gills with loot

Much to their chagrin, the wives caught them with the stuff

Called the cops, that’s the end, both taken, in handcuffs

River ripples, oft plangent, I can hear her sigh

Why do I care to linger about anyway?

I bid her a gentle wave, a reluctant goodbye

Then wonder if she’ll take me, as a stowaway

You are the center of your universe

Making things, so small, much worse

Always with a scornful look or sneer

To even those you once held dear

While time is fleeting, passing you by

All you think of is an eye for an eye

How silly it is to go on living like this

Instead of kindness, you choose to diss

Those who gave their precious time

Who, in your eyes, are quite begrimed

This I offer, though you won’t hear

My words, no matter, are very clear

Seek His peace, and hope, and light

Then learn to love instead of fight…

Author’s note: I have been struggling to get through health issues as well as family issues, but I’m over it.  I don’t mean to sound harsh, but for my own healing and well being, I have to move aside.  These words are the final pouring out of a very hard decision that was, unfortunately, inevitable. Thank you for reading…

It didn’t matter
What time of day
It was always on his mind
Breakfast, lunch
And dinner
Any way and any kind

He was
The pizza man
A legend at his craft
Pepperoni
Margherita
Even half and half

Perfect
Every time
Never stained his shirt
The guys
Would high-five him
The girls
Would always flirt

Seemed
They liked to drool
Over the pizza guy
The men
Simply called him
Lord of the Pies
