Skin, as smooth as silk, would she quiver at his touch?
He looked forward to this day, so very much

Awaiting her arrival, anxiously, to greet her
It had taken him too long, to try to meet her

He had to build the nerve, to ask her on a date
Knew exactly where she’d be, had to lie in wait

Every Wednesday, the same routine, he didn’t waiver
Thoughts inside his head had said, he could be her savior

Watched her every move, a stalker, he’d become
Practiced every word, so she wouldn’t think him dumb

Hoped she’d notice him, before it was too late
He had every intention, of making her his mate

Finally, he approached, “Hi there, what’s your name?”
Knew from that moment on, she was his to claim

She looked at him, quite startled, then quickly walked away
He called out to her to wait, hoping she would stay

Faster and faster, she made her escape from this man
He was gaining on her, seems he had another plan

Caught her off guard, when she stumbled, on the walk
He tried to help her up, but, she continued to balk

She gave him a look, which was just a bit too wary
That was a mistake, so much for poor, dear Mary

Margaret and Mary would meet in the street

Two old biddies, though neither was sweet

Each day, a chore, they chose for the other

Which only caused them, to continually mutter

Under their breath, they’d curse out their lives

Seems they always dreamed, of being richly wives

Instead they found themselves, cleaning their mess

Same outfit, every day, same old worn out dress

Vowing once, and for all, to get justice served

They planned a great heist, for things they deserved

Each filled her pockets, with jewels, and cash, to boot

Tried to leave the mansions, stuffed to the gills with loot

Much to their chagrin, the wives caught them with the stuff

Called the cops, that’s the end, both taken, in handcuffs

It didn’t matter
What time of day
It was always on his mind
Breakfast, lunch
And dinner
Any way and any kind

He was
The pizza man
A legend at his craft
Pepperoni
Margherita
Even half and half

Perfect
Every time
Never stained his shirt
The guys
Would high-five him
The girls
Would always flirt

Seemed
They liked to drool
Over the pizza guy
The men
Simply called him
Lord of the Pies

A feeling of floating, amidst the clouds

Far, far away from the raucous crowds

Letting it lull me, into a sense of calm

The still of the water, tis my only balm

Mirrored reflections, a light in the dark

A journey unto myself, on this, I embark

And though my soul continues to seek

I realize, I am still one, among the meek

My heart, skips a beat, it longs ever more

For a way to stay, away from the shore

As I watch the day, up above me, shrink

It is then I realize that the sun also sinks

Beyond the horizon, she whispers goodbye

A wave of my hand, and a tear, from my eye

Awaiting the moment, she returns, ever bright

Lighting the heavens, and chasing the night

The Brat in the Hat – #MayWriting – #poetry

Selfie by Alyssa…who very nicely let me use it for my poem.

I solemnly swear, she said to me

That I am up to no good, this I can see

She gives me that coy little smile

Ok, she melts my heart for awhile

But I know what’s behind that grin

Thank goodness, she is not a twin

I wouldn’t know what to do

One is enough, imagine two!

And when she has you, in her spell

Her kind of magic, you can’t quell

The truth is, she is not a brat

But that really is her silly hat

Seems the t-shirt matches that

This girl does surely beguile
