She No Longer Cries ~ #poetry

She finds herself lost on this lonely trail
Thoughts keep returning, sorrows prevail
A broken heart cries, so fragile and frail
Things she remembers, but cannot curtail

Darkness surrounds her, she closes her eyes
Trying to find the answers to the whys
Why this had happened, she quietly sighs
Tears long dried up, she no longer cries

Knowing she was not the one who had sinned
Emotions had caught them both, a whirlwind
As much as she tried, her feelings chagrined
For she knew he was gone, his love he’d rescind

But light, a reminder, her chance to forget
No longer, would she live, nor even regret
Starting over, she knew, with a different mindset
She’d never again be considered a soubrette

One lonely lantern, set the stage, for a show

Dotting each flower, with its luminous glow

Making the darkness dance, in the light

Like dozens of fireflies, to brighten the night

Silently, beguiling, with its magic, it creates

Peaceful and calming, each moment, sedate

Never really alone, with its radiance, incandescent

This one little light, making moments, effervescent

They left you a trail, quite an incredible sight

Invisible creatures that blended with light

Creating a passage, through the forest, so dense

With leaves, from the trees, but still you could sense

The aura of beings, who had passed this way

Quickly, before nighttime had turned into day

Making sure that their presence would surely be seen

On the deep trodden path, and everywhere, in between

So when darkness appeared, on the floor of the land

Their footsteps would guide you, like holding your hand

Through the pitch of the night, into sunlight’s first gleam

Tis then you’ll awake, believing all was a dream

I could hear the pounding of your heartbeat

Like the pouring of the rain against this old house

Every inch, creaking, from the weight of the world

On shoulders that held more than they should

Taken in stride, as if this was your lot in this life

Never a complaint, you just went about your day

And night couldn’t come soon enough for you

Tired and weary, you had fallen fast asleep

Before I even had the chance to say thank you

For making my world a much better place to live

And this I know, as time passes, and days fade

You will always be the light that guides me

Shining within me, through my own darkest hours

Night appears and chases day

Stands to watch the starlight play

Noticing one that outshines the rest

Reflecting, a glow, upon her chest

Wraps her in stardust, ever true

She watches, as mountains fade from view

No longer does the sun remain

Darkness, once again, shall reign

As she blends in with the midnight sky

And stars gently twinkle, before they die

For she is the one who chased away light

Beauty now gone, from her blinded sight

Once she was a beacon, to shine the way

Now, in the dark, filled with dismay

Hoping one day, she will shine, again

She can only wait, for she knows not when
