He sleeps through the night

Rages of a storm, his dreams

Scattering, in the wind

Drenching, as rain pours

Against the windows

This is his life, his imagination

He sleeps through the fight

Emotionless, visions extreme

Thunderous, a time he sinned

Soaking through, to his core

Now left alone, like a widow

This is his life, his damnation

I suppose it should be easy

To find the answers that I seek

But things are always in my way

And the outlook’s rather bleak

To simplify my very thoughts

I get lost, in this big world

Waving flags to passersby

Not noticing it’s still furled

I know I’m not making any sense

Sad to say, at times I ramble

Wish there was a way to rectify

A life, that’s such a shambles

I always tend to be an optimist

But these days I’m not quite sure

Every day it gets harder and harder

I don’t know how much I can endure

I try not to get overwhelmed

By the daily routine of my life

But I’m stuck in a rut, an abyss

One that’s filled with unbearable strife

Pessimism was never my forte

Though the times have changed, you see

I’m beginning to think I’ve forgotten

How beautiful this life can be

We are caught
in the spiral
of a serpent’s eye
A circle of time
where there is
no escape
A dimension
of waves
nauseating
unfulfilling
Staring back at us
its scales tipped
inharmonic tones
Surrounding
dilating pupils
retract and restore
Slowly sinking its venom
into ever waiting veins
