When buying a home, keep a watchful eye

On what’s hidden, by each rock formation

It’s a good guess, no matter how hard you try

You can’t remove them, without aggravation

Setting fire to the midnight sky
She takes off, upon her broom

Halloween, the witch’s right
Tis the hour of certain doom

She leaves her black cat, safe at home
As she flies about, through the clouds

He mews his loudest, atop the dome
She repeats to him, he’s not allowed

This is her night, to release her wrath
Probably better if you stay home, too

For the broom of doom, in its aftermath
Makes you, the main course, for her stew

Curdling Cries – #OctoberWriting #OctPoWriMo #poetry

In this house, there is an empty room
Where a lost spirit lingers, and spies
On the only ones, who know she’s there
For they can hear her blood curdling cries

Each night, before the midnight hour
She finds herself, by the panes of glass
Pulling the drapes, aside from the wall
She lets out evil screams, en masse

The only light that shines, is far
So, no one sees her where she stands
And those below, never hear a sound
But she knows much better, firsthand

She is only meant to frighten the ones
Who dwell in this house, once hers
Determined to rid them from her abode
Every night the dreaded sound does recur

Hoping to chase them out of this place
She whispers, eerily, for this is her plight
“Get out, or I will scream forever more”
Nightmares, chase the dreams, outright

Friday Fantasy ~ The House of Howls – #OctoberWriting

No one asks, where the howls come from

The screams, the forsaken, echo, and thrum

A mysterious glow, envelops the house

No one dares near it, not even a mouse

For evil lies heavy where no man has been

The howling of spirits, releasing their sin

Cast away these beasts, ungodly, at best

Immortal creatures, no longer blessed

Demons, each Lucifer, an evil disgrace

Still fight for their right, on this Earthly space

A Typical Place ~ #poetry

Something was missing inside this house
Sometimes noisy, it was quiet as a mouse

Perhaps they had left, gone out to play
Maybe they waited for, yet, another day

Still, the silence droned loudly in the tiny room
No one at the table, nor granny with her broom

Everything is tidy, but no one comes to see
This is where you’d always find, one big family

But times have changed, the kids all grown
Granny’s gone to a different home

The house lays still, collecting dust
The fireplace andirons, have started to rust

Where once, pure laughter filled the air
There’s no one home, there’s no one there

They’ve all gone away, and found their own place
Once a house full of love, is now one empty place
