Visitor

She waits by the lake

He returns

Unaware

She returns, into the depths

Dragging him along

The fire had long gone out
Not even a spark remained
The clock on the wall said 2AM
And she was totally drained

She leaned against the stone
Perhaps, to feel some heat
Nary could a sound be heard
Only a thrum, like a heartbeat

She stood there, daydreaming
Knowing she should go to bed
When something eerie came over her
The alcohol had gone to her head

A sweet whisper over the silence
Shook her to her very core
Afraid to look to see who was there
Quickly, she ran, for the door

Finding there was no way out
She turned around, and then
Staring back at her, over her photo
Was dearly departed Gwen!

She screamed when realized who
Then froze, right where she stood
Gwen had no reason to come to her
She knew this couldn’t be good

Poor Sadie, she thought she was finished
When she shot her, with a gun full of lead
But Gwen wasn’t finished with Sadie
She would haunt her until she was dead

He stood as still, as the dark night above him
In the distance, he saw her standing there
An apparition, she, who once loved him
Consumed by fear, all he could do was stare

His heart, racing, sweat pouring from his face
Watching her floating, weightlessly, in air
Wondering why she came back to this place
But his eyes, away from her, he couldn’t tear

Not thinking what could happen, he walks
She backs away, slowly, in silent despair
Begging her to speak, but she couldn’t talk
Knowing this now, he begins to declare

His sins, the reasons, she is no longer alive
He seeks forgiveness, from his once maiden fair
But she turns away, for she can never revive
The man who created his own nightmare

For this week’s challenge, Colleen has chosen Ghost and Hollow as the prompts.  But there’s a catch!! #SynonymsOnly!  Rules can be found at the link below!  Have fun!

The
Spirits
Are restless
Tonight, they howl
With the wind, blowing
Like a banshee, screaming
Into space, they float away
Bringing them closer to nothing
They disappear in the emptiness
Spectral beings, ever lost, in the void

This vision in white, ever cries for the one

Her hauntingly, hideous anguish is sung

For every October, yes, come Halloween

She arrives to create her unearthly scene

Screeching and screaming, waking the dead

Hoping she’ll find him, to release him, instead

He’s kept locked in the portal, of no escape

Left to hang, in limbo, with ethereal shape

Carrying on, she’s a spirit, a woman, possessed

Her worrisome wailings, his cause for unrest
