Beyond the forest glen, the realization struck her. She had been walking on the same stone path for what seemed like hours, and she was still in the place where she started. The air had changed, it was getting colder, and she had no jacket with her. Trying to decide whether she should turn around and go back or try one more time to get through the forest, she opted to go ahead.

Taking slow steps, she took note of how the path had changed. There was an iridescent glow to the stones that wasn’t there before. Even the trees looked strange, almost as if they were animated. She hesitated to go any further, but knew she couldn’t stop now. Night was falling, and soon the forest would sleep.

Several feet later, the stones, still glowing, ended. She couldn’t see around the bend, but the light was still there. Stepping as quietly as possible, she stopped where the stones ended and the densest part of the forest began. Surely she shouldn’t go into the forest. She had no flashlight, no lantern, and her phone was almost dead. She’d need that in case of an emergency. Thinking that over, she thought “This is an emergency!” Sighing loudly, then quickly covering her mouth, she saw she had no signal. The only choice she had was to keep walking in the woods, hoping she’d find the way out..

I’m excited to reveal the cover for my next book, “Short & not always Sweet“!  As you can probably surmise by the title, it is my first book of short stories.  I have included passages and poetic prose, to round out my writing.  Some of you will recognize the stories from Sue Vincent’s Thursday #writephoto, but there’s a catch.  The stories have been continued!  The book is in the editing stages now, and will be available soon (I hope).  Without further ado…

The back reads:

“Imagine yourself being lost in a faraway land, or sailing on a pirate ship.  Perhaps you’ll find yourself in a predicament, or a romantic rendezvous. From passages to longer, more detailed stories, these are writings that are sure to capture your imagination and evoke emotions, from sadness, to madness, to happiness and beyond.”

I look forward to releasing the book soon, and hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it for you!

50 Word Story ~ Autumn left me – #writing

The weather was turning. I could feel the winter wind strike a glancing blow across my face. Teary eyed, I watched, accepting the fact autumn would be leaving me. Icier days grew closer, and I drew deeper into myself. I couldn’t bear watching, for fear I’d never see her again.

The Joys of Spam ~ Amusing Comments

Ah, Spam, don’t waste your love on somebody, who doesn’t value it (sorry, Shakespeare).

No, I’m not talking about that disgusting canned stuff that campers (like my husband) keep in case of an emergency (no emergency could get me to eat that). I’m speaking of the delightful fun of checking our spam comments. You see, the need to do so arises because some of our followers wind up in there (tsk tsk Akismet). We can only hope they realize we are not ignoring them. So without further ado….

Apparently I have a great deal of knowledge pertaining to dreaming. This from someone who seldom sleeps, if dreams. I’m amused. I also use green seaweed in my salad. That could attribute to the fresh content, but no, appears I don’t have that either. Maybe purchasing generic Cialis or Viagra would perk up my blog. That should get a rise out of it, don’t ya think? And who knew? I totally missed the donation button option because so many people claim they would definitely donate to my blog. To think, I could be a millionaire without writing a word! And last but certainly not least, if I ever give up writing (not a chance) I can always become a porn star. 😉

And so ends this entry on the most ludicrous things you can find when sifting through spam. Hope this gave you a giggle as I certainly had a good time, especially wondering what these people do in real life!!

To all of you, thank you so very much for your wonderful comments.  I love them all, and you, too!!  ❤

Hi everyone!

How many of you like to write to word prompts?  Do you find it helps get the muse going, or sometimes you just need a little push in the “write” direction?

When I started my blog, I didn’t use prompts because I thought they took away from my inner self, that I was somehow cheating.  Boy, was I wrong!!

What in the world is she babbling about, you’re asking?

Since September, I have joined in with Michelle from Her Writing Haven and Putting My Feet in the Dirt.  Each month, ~M, as she is known to some, puts up writing prompts.  I decided to try it out and I’m having a blast (now with October)!!  Michelle’s prompts can be serious, lighthearted and quirky, all at once.  You can go in any direction!

I invite you to join ~M (and me) as we sail through October.  Here are the prompts for the month:  October Writing Prompts

I hope to see more of you, and don’t forget to link back to the original post found above, so we can all read what you’ve written.  It’s a great way to meet new bloggers.

OK, I’m done   😉
