Hours, now spent, at the computer screen
Pounding the keyboard, to its extreme

While typing away, I’m paying no attention
Until I realize, I’m faced, with misapprehension

Glancing above the rims of my glasses
The color of blue, which nicely harasses

The vision in front of me, is it a message?
Downloading future, is this a presage?

It tells me to wait, but for what, I’m unsure
I could always hit cancel, that could be a cure

Except, I wonder, what it is my future holds
Can I ask the blue screen, or would that be too bold?

On second thought, perhaps, it’s cancel, I will hit
Better I should shut it down, before I throw a fit

As I turn off the computer, and take a deep breath
I pray, when I turn it on, I won’t be faced with death

Stuck in One Place ~ #poetry #DecemberWriting

He spent so many hours, in front of his computer
Never moved a single inch, he was a non-commuter
Tower underneath his desk, files shoved under, too
A monitor stuck on one screen, always the same view

No matter how he tried, he couldn’t make it work
Even the mouse wouldn’t move, maybe just a quirk?
What he saw in the reflection, gave him quite a scare
He had been there for so long, he stuck right to the chair

Only bones remained, although he was fully clad
Maybe he tried a new diet, it couldn’t be all bad
Still, the skeleton on the screen, stared right back at him
He had to come to grips, as he was looking rather grim

And yet, he refused to believe, it was his face, so he rejected
Blaming, yes, the cable guys, they must have disconnected
Again he checked the screen, hoping for an explanation
Was this all a simple glitch, or merely his imagination?

Moral of the story? Get off the computer and LIVE!!

He had Gizmos Aplenty – #poetry #SeptemberWriting

Danny had gadgets and gizmos aplenty
And what he thought was a perfect life
Spent his days behind a computer screen
Even though he could be home with his wife

He’d come in each night, exhausted
Never listening to the kids and their chatter
What he really didn’t understand, was
He was ignoring the things that matter

Instead, he would drag himself into the den
Sit on the couch to play a game, always cued
Pause it, the minute his phone would ring
Told his family he didn’t want to be rude

He’d brush them away, like he didn’t care
What they needed, was his undivided attention
But he was more interested in his electronic toys
Which was always a point of contention

Seems gadgets were more important to him
And he could never figure out why
His wife and kids up and left him
Without ever saying goodbye

I found her sitting in my chair

Dreamy eyes, without a care

Messed up hair, oh, what a sight!

She must have stayed awake all night

Computer screen filled with her words

Some of them, seemed quite absurd

Verses filled, with sky and sea

Lost, in poetic dichotomy

I look again and find her gone

It’s only me, who sits alone

In front of a screen, I am confused

I seem to have misplaced my muse

write
I sit here, in my office
My one place to breathe
Where I can write quietly
My gentle reprieve

Placed my hands on the keyboard
But something felt wrong
The words made no sense
As I typed them along

What could be happening?
Not now, my dearest friend!
My keyboard then answered
“Use paper and pen”

A talking piece of hardware
Where all my thoughts do play
Was telling me to change it up
To try a new display

“Learn to flow more freely
Write your verse, with endless flair
Then sit back and admire
What you’ve done, unaware”
