Drawn into the darkness

By a vision in the night

Unafraid of what she sees

She journeys toward the light

Reaching out to touch it

Though shocking as it seems

It brightens as she nears it

Illuminates her dreams

A child, who wanders freely

We watch, for she is ours

Her aura, so radiantly shines

She is one among the stars

She donned her pretty tutu

Forgot about her shoes

Grabbed a yellow sunflower

Held on tight, as not to lose

Golden tresses fell

In waves, she didn’t lack

Traveled down the pavement

Never once did she look back

She was only a child, a wanderer

Though she drifted, less and less

Followed the roads before her

No longer a restless princess

I used to be her favorite dream

A nightmare now, is what I seem

She dare not open up her eyes

For I am one who petrifies

The small one, when she falls asleep

I’ll wait, until she slumbers deep

Then frighten her, awake, she’ll cry

I’ve never really understood why

I used to think she cared for me

Now, she’s just plain scared of me

A child of the moon, his calling

Teddy bear, close at hand

Makes his way up the mountain, crawling

This night, so carefully planned

Not by he, too little to comprehend

But by the light in the sky above

That slowly guides him, to ascend

To be closer, to the one he loves

Every night, it’s the same, this story

How the child and the moon unite

Both bask in their triumph, their glory

Fascinated by each, with delight

A child’s simple joy

Comes from his delightful ways

Trying to skip stones
