It’s the beginning of a new month and you know what that means!!  Poet’s choice!  I chose the words Christmas and Flashback.  Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry!

Written as an Etheree, my synonyms are Yuletide and Memories.

The
Yuletide
Spirit shines
Glows in our hearts
Brings us warmth within
Our home, filled to the brim
With love, family gathers
Exchanging hugs instead of gifts
Relating stories of days long past
Memories to share for generations

He found himself standing on a bridge

Not quite sure of just how he got here

Something on the map must have changed

Perchance, its markings weren’t so clear

Shadows falling, as the sun begins to set

The azure sky, was fading, much to his dismay

Perhaps, he took a wrong turn somewhere

Or maybe he was meant to find this way

Trying to soak in the last of the warmth

Taking a deep breath, from up there, high

Thinking, for once, he’s on top of the world

He threw the map, over the edge, and sighed

December Writing Prompt – Had the map really changed, or had he read it wrong to begin with? – Day 4/31

She tortured him, with her cruel intent

He never realized what it all had meant

Down on bended knee, he proposed they unite

Her words, echoed still, “no, it wouldn’t be right”

“To marry a man, I have no feelings for”

All he remembered, as she walked out the door

Love was the one thing she couldn’t return

Tears filled his eyes, slowly making them burn

He couldn’t believe it, thought all was in jest

But the truth sucked the life right out of his chest

He watched himself change, in an odd kind of way

Would never go out, nor show his face in the day

His hunger was ravenous, but not for food, I’m afraid

Though you’d think it hideous, it was what he craved

An image of who he once was, a reflection, despised

Checking the mirror, again, he adjusted his disguise

Candlelight flickering, cast an eerier glow on his face

Finally understanding, why he was bound to this place

And when it hit him, raging, like a wild, relentless flood

He knew what he needed, was another human’s blood

Sunlight wakes a sleepless mind

And still I long to dream, I find

Raindrops lingering, barren trees

Branches swaying, a subtle breeze

Clouds, at last, have gone away

A Peaceful morning, blessed day

For I have opened my tired eyes

Thankful, once again, to rise

Have a Blessed Sunday  ❤
