A rhythm so sweet

In the silence of the night

Gently, raindrops fall

veterans-
For the United States, a nation free

A country proud of her liberty,

Without a second guess, you stood

And formed an earthly brotherhood.

Joined together, hand in hand

You vowed to protect our beloved land,

Lines of battle, courageously fought

You made it home, weary and fraught.

But others will never forget, you see

You’ve carved a place in history.

To our Veterans of war, we gratefully pray

May God watch over you, each night and day!

Swirl and sway with the whispering winds

Magic unfurls as a leaf starts to spin

Fluttering high on the wisp of a breeze

Below, the grass and flowers tease

Fairies dance in a whimsical way

Among the floral autumn bouquet

Shades of Blue

Locked inside this fantasy
Of colors changing hue
That fade away too easily
Leaving shades of blue

Block the colors from my mind
Memories of much better times
Reflections in the mirror, you
Reflections that I never knew

Locked outside of brighter days
Emotions I now lack
Feelings turned into malaise
As colors fade to black

Into the Haze

Emptiness lies beyond the mist

Pallid colored crystals shift

She walks on tip toes, through the grass

Blades that feel like shards of glass

Wondering where it is she’ll go

Lost among the fog aflow

That swirls about her naked skin

Uncloaked to feel the cold within

Of winter’s chill that holds no kindness

Frozen in this icy blindness

She wanders on into the haze

Her mind adrift in a languid daze
