Along the banks they stand, proudly, and wait

The misty morning, always, coveting their fate

Statuesque, majestic trees, one after the other

Try to shake the gloom, as limbs begin to shudder

From tiny particles, tis the rime, of winter’s bane

All they want is warmth, to ease the chilling pain

But alas, when day is over, and the sunlight strays

Evening settles in with more, of that melancholic haze

Memories, faded, in black and white

A toddler explores, stars, in the light

Against the guardrail, inquisitive wonder

That no adult should ever plunder

Poking and pushing, to find the entrance

Standing on tiptoes, he takes his chances

Behind the tarpaulin, lies adventure

Let him be, don’t let there be censure

His imagination, must fly in the breeze

Past the circus clowns, and forest trees

And as I watch, and hope that I can see

Deep inside, I know, a piece of him, is me

Now dressed in uniform, on his arm is his lady

I am thankful for photos, of my blue jean baby

In the Midst of Sadness and Despair – #poetry #FebruaryWriting

A dark, clouded sky, no end in sight

Turned the morn, into an ebon night

Piles of sand, lay wasted on the beach

The ocean’s tide, was too far to reach

If it was there, I could no longer tell

As again, the clouds, began to swell

I watched, as emptiness, the cause

Brought attention, what’s this? (I paused)

There in the middle of nothingness

Amidst this plain, in mere ruggedness

Stood a flower, so dainty and eloquent

I could smell its fragrance, so redolent

I knew all hope had not been taken

And I, for one, had not been forsaken

Through the hours, and total madness

I truly hadn’t felt despair, nor sadness

Those petals, my reminder, to persevere

The darkness will always, eventually, clear

The broken pieces of me, do crumble
Still, I’ve lived a life that’s humble
For years, now, I have kept you grounded
How I did this, I’m astounded

Stomped on, in my younger days
Still, a bit gentler, in many ways
Could have stopped this sudden downfall
Too late now, I’m falling apart, and all

Could you, perhaps, put me back together?
I’m sure it’ll make me feel much better
I watch you shake your head at me
There’s nothing you can do? I see

So, that’s it, my time is done
It’s seems old age, at last, has won.
But thanks for all the memories
The flowers, birds & maple trees

I’ll miss them all, we’ve grown so close
But you’re the one, I’ll miss, the most.

I
Could stand
On the shore
Forevermore
Watching the sunset
My feet, in cool water
As I breathe in salty air
Letting it touch my soul, my core
Washing away, the hurt and sorrow
That, which has often left me, on the edge
