Space, the lines on the paper
These are the scribbles of the Night Owl Poet
Her never-ending mission
To explore strange new words
To seek out new verse
And new split-infinitives
To boldly go where no poet has gone before
(Cue bizarre sounding music)
I fly through words, origins unknown
As I wander around my place
I’ve tried to use them all, you see
But they clutter up my space
Tossing papers, crumpled wads
Leaving poems, quite unfinished
I’d rather watch the stars go by
As my thoughts have now diminished
I need to leave this planet, Earth
Find a home, where I can survive
Then I can write, about the night
I landed, on Ceti Alpha Five!

Under radiant light, once again, reborn
A whispering breeze across the vibrant sky
She awakens with the gentle call of morn.
Life on Earth heaves a gentle sigh
For she is the mountain that reigns above
And the lands found down below
Delicate beauty, who bestows with love
As she watches her mighty Earth grow

That block out the sun
Long for the hours
When daylight is done
Dwell in the darkness
Tis where I’m content
Hidden, unnoticed
Is how my life’s spent
I am one with the creatures
Who stir in the night
Awaiting the sunset
To silence the light

He had a graceful way
Of showing disrespect
So smooth was he
With such flippancy
This rascal of a gent
He made the ladies swoon
When he walked by
He caused them fraught
Just at the thought
That he might be Heaven sent
His friends all raved about him
Thought he was the cat’s meow
Nothing purr-fect, oh no!
It was all for show
In fact, he was more hell bent
On causing trouble, everywhere
His Mamma gave up trying
No one knew
What they could do
To tame his malcontent
The more they let him carry on
The more flippant he became
So fluent was he
With his smart-alecky
This young man, who would never relent
