Grown from the land

In which she is planted

Rhododendron blossoms

And the world is enchanted

Fragrant perfume, she releases

With every bud that blooms

Mother Earth’s triumphant child

From her earthly womb

Perfection she has given

To what was only seed

Grown into a majesty

Her matriarchal deed

Happy Earth Day!!

Colleen’s poetry challenge for this week is synonyms only!  Her two words are Empty and Space.  Check out Colleen’s blog to find which forms of poetry are acceptable for this challenge.  Have fun!

Written as a Cinquain, my synonyms are Desolate and Expanse.

Defiled

This vast expanse

So desolate, barren

Lays in waste, Mother Earth cries

Abuse

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Warm arms embracing

Holding her creations near

She breathes life in each

While smiling over her brood

As they blossom within her

I found her lying ‘tween the clover

Then tiptoed, not to make a sound

Though fast asleep, I could feel her

Heartbeat, pulsing, off the ground

Her essence left a heady fragrance

Lifted from the dampened earth

And I couldn’t help but wonder why

She chose this place to give it worth

So hidden, deep, within these woods

Where no one else could find her

A tired Mother Earth, took rest

As the beauty of land, entwined her
