It is an integral part of us, as true human beings

To make an effort, so we make the world right

Yet we continue to blame, ignoring, not seeing

Anything that needs attention, instead, we fight

Won’t you please come closer, let me have a look at you
I promise not to harm you, I just want to know your name
I am, simply, an old tree, stuck in the snow, without a clue
As how to get the cold to leave, each year, it’s still the same

The sky gets rather cloudy, and the sun seems to run away
Is there a way for me to stop this, from happening again?
All at once, the light is gone, and all around me, turns gray
Perhaps you can teach me, how to change the ice to rain

You keep looking at me, with wonderment on your face
I seem to be quite different, than the others trees, I fear
I bet you’re trying to figure out, how I got to this place
I wish I had the answer, but Mother Nature’s left me here

Frozen in this position, I have no choice but to look down
I wonder if, there is a way, for you to help me straighten
Such puzzlement in your eyes, and now you have a frown
My guess is that you can’t, so that leaves me still misshapen

Maybe, perchance, you’ll come back, when the snow is done
Bring with you, a book or two, then we can read together
Spring, is when I’ll find my leaves, to shade you, from the sun
Yes, I can see that you agree, it’s also your kind of weather

Now off you go, dear child, before you turn much colder
And winter, in its harshest way, causes me to grow older

Mind yourself, stay warm, and dry

I’ll see you soon, I promise…

…Goodbye

I don’t know much about foods, in Yorkshire

I hear they make a really great pudding

Though some of the ingredients are strange

They keep telling me it tastes really gooding

(is that a word?)

In the states, we use things, like milk or cream

Then mix in the flavorings, we enjoy most

In Britain, they use drippings from the beef

Sounds more like it should be over toast

(quite absurd!)

In the U.S., we put whipped cream on top

There’s no way we would ever use gravy!

Over there, they use a  muffin pan to bake it

They claim, it always comes out, rather flaky

(I prefer mine creamy)

Okay, I say, I’ll give it a try

This Sunday, while the roast is cooking

I’ll scoop some goodness, out of the fridge

But first make sure, nobody is looking

(mm mm, dreamy!!)

Mother Nature, the teacher, her lessons, at times, concise

Reminds us, to not take life for granted, else we pay the price

But, she can’t do it all, alone, and it’s becoming quite a concern

Still, she keeps hoping every human being, eventually, will learn

Friday Fantasy ~ Where Eternity Rests – #poetry #spirits

Lost spirits, dancing, in midair flight,
No shadows cast, beneath the light

Of a street lamp, in the dewy mist,
Lingering softly, like a sweetened kiss

Stuck in limbo, they forage the Earth
Longing, praying, for their own rebirth

Though nothing here, is worth the tally,
Too many have gathered, in the alley

Harrowing screams, and chilling groans
Covered in dirt, these skeletal bones

They hope for more, but circumstances
Just don’t allow them, second chances

So hover they must, no place to land
Their presence, no longer in demand

Forced to move on, to find their place
Where eternity rests, without a trace
