It is always so easy to delate, those who choose wrong

Pointing fingers, must always come with hard evidence

Make a pledge to a better self, where it firstly belongs

Let others decide for themselves, their own negligence

This week Colleen has challenged us with the words Follow and Lead!  Synonyms are a must!  Check out Colleen’s blog to find which forms of poetry are acceptable for this challenge.  Have fun!

Written as a Nonet, my synonyms are Pursue and Govern.

Let our thoughts govern our wildest dreams
Take us to places none can find
Through wilderness and portals
Imaginary doors
Unlocking our minds
As we pursue
Beautiful
And new
Paths

Circa 1960

The militia drew upon us, as we tried to journey on

Amid guns, clashing, shattered souls against brawn

We fled in every direction, but we never got away

Some of us, left to die, alone, most every day

A new regime took over, nothing really changed

Led by men who hated, those who were deranged

Burma, is how I knew you, those many years ago

Myanmar took your name, oh, how I miss you so

Hunger and starvation, we knew them all too well

This country is no longer, the place I wish to dwell

The clashes still exist where, no religion has its peace

And I remain here, stranded, praying for my release

Myanmar (Burma) today: In 2011, the military junta was officially dissolved following a 2010 general election, and a nominally civilian government was installed. This, along with the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and political prisoners, has improved the country’s human rights record and foreign relations, and has led to the easing of trade and other economic sanctions. There is, however, continuing criticism of the government’s treatment of ethnic minorities, its response to the ethnic insurgency, and religious clashes. (Wikipedia)

Diurnal light shines, a glow upon the Earth

Opening our eyes, to beauty and wonder

If we don’t remember, to treasure its worth

Our costly actions, will surely put asunder

Night falls
I am weary
Heavy lids close
Still the light
Shimmers through
The darkness
Imaginary figures
Move, sway
Shadows weave
An endless tale
Within corners
Of the room
Sheets rustle
Lashes flutter
Semi-closed
A glimpse
Into the
Void
Dreams
Take over
Nightmares
Consume
Still the light
Shimmers through
The darkness
