I found her sitting in my chair

Dreamy eyes, without a care

Messed up hair, oh, what a sight!

She must have stayed awake all night

Computer screen filled with her words

Some of them, seemed quite absurd

Verses filled, with sky and sea

Lost, in poetic dichotomy

I look again and find her gone

It’s only me, who sits alone

In front of a screen, I am confused

I seem to have misplaced my muse

Spilling from pages, in mysterious ways

Spirits unfold, in a mystical haze

Open the book, and magic appears

Bound, indeed, to the celestial sphere

Floating on air, they dance as you read

Wafting with words, is all that they need

To bring you life, from the far beyond

Watching you closely, as you respond

To the joys they breathe, and you take it all in

Turning the pages, again and again

There was a time

when the words

flowed like a waterfall,

an endless cascade

of letters, gathering

together like waves

in the ocean, crashing

down in a sigh, then

slipping away once again.

This is where my life will end,

like the bottom of a riverbed,

dried up, seared by the heat

of the daytime star, scarred

where words no longer

can bleed brittle memories,

merely to fall away,

an invisible page

Oh dear, here goes my muse again

She’s really becoming quite the pain

Throws tantrums just to get her way

Won’t let me sleep, on any day

Until of course, she’s fully sated

Digesting words, regurgitated

From simply too many pages written

I think my muse is finally smitten

Perhaps she’ll leave me, let me be

I can only hope, for my sanity

sunset 12315
When day becomes night, igniting a flare

As the sun sets its light, with nary a care

Where the shadows grow dark, no more fire aglow

Extinguishing the spark, slowly setting, below

When the rhythm of rhymes, are thoughts in my head

And the light from the moon shine, is silently shed

If you listen, you’ll hear such a sweet harmony

Of words finding life, taking flight, freeing me
