A tremor, of which, there is no control

Wrestles my being, invading my soul

Carries me down, into the darkened abyss

How much longer, can I go on like this!

Looking for mercy, from the pain that’s inflicted

The horrors, and heartache, that have me restricted

No movement can ease, this demon inside me

Under my pillow, perhaps I can hide me

From dealing with this, again and again

And others who look, with obvious disdain

They know not what it is, I am truly feeling

Or how much destruction, I’ve been concealing

Am I never to find the answers I seek?

Or is it just that I’ve gotten much too weak?

Should I try to put this pain, and misery to rest?

And forget all this time, I am still quite oppressed

A candle flickers, on the bedroom stand

This is the night, she so carefully planned

Her favorite book, laid by her side

She promised to read it, but knew that she lied

The pill bottle, there, on her white satin sheets

Open and empty, she’s falling asleep

Her thoughts start to wander, with dreams, unfulfilled

The rooms getting colder, her body now chilled

The flame, once so bright, is diminished instead

For she took her own life, when she made her own bed

Ivy covers your window sill
Reflections linger, ever still

Eyes that shield the sunlit day
Memories that come and stay

Are shadows cast, an eerie face
Reflections linger, in this place

As I look up, no longer smile
Knowing you’ve been gone awhile

You never thought that you belonged
I never tried to prove you wrong

I watched as you let life slip by
I always thought you’d never die

How could I abandon you?
Reflections linger, filled with rue

Now this window, draws me here
Memories, becoming clear

My world will never be the same
Reflections linger, along with blame

Before I Slip Away

Do you hear me when I cry
Feel the teardrops as they fall
Can you hear my trembling sigh
When I feel so very small

Do you see the pain inside
Can you calm the fear
Do you see what I can’t hide
Please, make the darkness disappear

Will you hold me in your arms
Comfort me at night
Will you quiet all my qualms
And chase away the fright

Hear me, see me, hold me close
Don’t let me go astray
Just be my painless antidote
Before I slip away

Laughter Cries

I wasn’t going to do this but after reading several posts throughout my Facebook feed, I had to. So many do not understand the toll severe depression or any mental illness, takes on a body. Not only for the individual, but for the people around them. Unless you’ve experienced it, don’t judge…you really have no idea.

Major depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States. In 2012, an estimated 16 million adults aged 18 or older in the U.S. had at least one major depressive episode in the past year. This represented 6.9 percent of all U.S. adults. (info via http://www.nimh.nih.gov/ )

In Memory of Robin Williams…. 1951-2014

Robin_Williams

Silent screams
Howl in your mind
The shrill sounds
Only you can hear

And you laugh

Hoping to hide the pain
Masking the horror
Of a life inside you
Waiting to be understood

And you cry

Never quite accepted
The darkness wins
And the lights fade
In the brightness of your smile
