What is it, with you humans, and dressing up your pets?
Can’t you see how silly, this whole thing really gets?

At first, it’s just a bandana, then another thing or two
Enough already, seriously, I’m starting to look like you!

It doesn’t matter how much, I protest this ludicrous clothing
I finally figured it out, aha! I’m wearing what you’re loathing!

You decided, you don’t like it, so it means I probably will
Guess again, come on, for real? I’m not looking very chill

Okay, I’ll admit I’m intrigued, I really like the glasses
But next time, please, if you will, put them on the asses

January Writing Prompt – It was a ludicrous request but one that drew his attention – Day 22/31

**I have posted this for the past two years (making this year 3) and decided to make it a Christmas tradition on my blog. It was first written after a serious bought of insomnia, so I blame that…still.**

Please read this to the tune of “Jingle Bells”

imp-1889547_960_720
Falling in the snow
One winter, cold and gray
Over drifts we go
Cursing all the way

No bells will toll for us
Noise is not our thing
Let us be, or you shall see
What happens when you sing

Ooooh, what the hell?!, we all fell
Out of Santa’s sleigh
We don’t know where we should go
This Christmas holiday

Oooooh, here we go, to and fro
We think this is the way
Through the woods, up to no good
This Christ-mas hol-i-daaaaaayyyy!!

Ho Ho!

It’s hard to believe three years have passed

It seems like it was only yesterday, but alas

You left this earth, and found a new place

But deep in my heart, you left a huge space

Friends til the end, though often, we’d fight

Eventually, always making everything right

Promised to be the last two standing, we did

But you left before me, I’m still here, on this grid

I miss the laughter, with those silly tales you’d tell

But I know, up there, you’re giving somebody hell

Miss you, buddy… In loving memory of Paul Pannone 1960 – 2015

This week, Colleen has given us the words Pleasant and Read as our challenge. Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry! I was feeling a bit silly today and wrote this etheree with fairy tales in mind, using charming and learn.   I promise a serious Tanka later today  😉

Prince
Charming
Was never
Really a prince
The ladies, aghast
Refusing to believe
How anyone could trick them
A lesson learned, never kiss frogs
Especially the ones in the moat
Who can dazzle with their delightful smiles

Poor Mercedes, the dinner was late

She needed something that tasted great

Had a crazy idea

Kicked it into high gear

Served him fried cotton balls, on a plate
