Hidden where the spirits loom
Their shelters torn and tattered
Ethereal beings meet their doom
Lost souls about are scattered
Perched upon her marble tomb
Her body broken, battered
No pleasure left, all consumed
A life once whole, now shattered
In the dank and misty gloom
The shadow of a figure lies….
….Darkness prevails when an angel dies

You shadowed my light, almost on cue
Blocked the rays that shone just so
Seized the moment, however brief
To hide that which I may never know
Eclipsed, I remained in the dark
Fighting my way through the pitch
Turned my face, away from the sight
As you easily captured, bewitched
Could I reclaim the moment I needed
To describe this ethereal sensation
The return of the light, in the daytime sky
To which I pray, is our Heavenly salvation

Night had fallen, in a veil of darkness
Mixed with moonlight, shadows called to me
They waited, watched, they edged closer
And fell back again, still, the stars twinkled
As planets smiled, and the ebony sky
Allowed me to dream
