It’s never too late to read, just pick up a book

Imagine the extra fun you can have exploring

Renewing adventures, you once overlooked

Delayed but waiting, to send your mind soaring!

Every day she’d come, with a book, in her hand

Set a blanket down, on the soft, and warm sand

Open to yesterday’s page, aloud, she would read

Seems this was the only thing, she’d ever need

Softly at first, against the crashing of the waves

Then a little bit louder, her voice, she’d engrave

Into the rush of surf, as it teased, near her feet

The sound of the water, her words, so sweet

And continue, she did, until light became dark

Then flag the page, with his faded bookmark

Promising to return to him, the very next day

Same place in the sand, for he liked it that way

They sat me down in this room
Said all I could do was look
Silly people, don’t they know
I’m all about the books

I found one filled with pictures
I’m still learning how to read
I picked one with a dinosaur
I really like this one, indeed!

It has very colorful, bright pages
And with the sunlight as my lamp
I can sit here, for hours and hours
It’s so much better than any camp

There are just so many books
I wonder, which one will be my next
Maybe I’ll try to read it out loud
Better choose one, complete with text

My Own Little Niche ~ #poetry #FebruaryWriting

I have found the most perfect place

Where no one will find me, not even a trace

Hidden, secluded in the corner, you see

My own little niche, yes, that’s where I’ll be

Just enough light, from the window, at day

Just enough darkness, to keep others away

Lost in the quiet, I’ll peacefully sit

All alone, by myself, I won’t care a bit

Leave me my imagination, and let me read

A book of full of stories, it’s all I’ll ever need

Chipped Edges – #poetry #DecemberWriting

Old books sitting on a shelf

Not sure if I’ve read them all myself

Bindings with edges, chipped and peeling

Make them seem ever more appealing

Thinking I should open them up, peruse

Wondering which one I should choose

I’ve decided, this is the perfect book!

I’ll get lost in the waves with “Captain Cook”
