I drift

Into the clouds

Thoughts linger like the mist

Early morning wakes, yet I

Continue to sleep

Aware and unaware,

Ascending, descending

Lost in the turbulence of life

Wondering where I belong

Seeking answers

To questions never asked

Finding solace in the unknown

For there I am free

Untethered, no stigmas

Unchained to reality

Unprovoked by the demons

That caress my heart

I dream, still

Afloat, while sunlight fades

And the skies weigh heavy

I know of only one place

Where I can breathe, so

Blissfully into oblivion

I drift

#TBT ~ Questions – #poetry of #life

I do not understand
Why time passes by
Yet stands still

Why a moment can be fleeting
Yet we are caught in it

Why we hate to love
Yet love to hate

Is it that we are
Afraid of feeling the heartache
Of time gone by
But unafraid of causing the heartbreak
Without a moment’s loss

Afraid of defining our own worth
Within ourselves
But unafraid to define others inadequacies
As they stand before us

How can you say you are living a life
For the moments, the time
The love and the hate
The heartache and the heartbreak
Yet claim to have no life worth living
I do not understand

Although my blog is award free, I am honored that Erika Kind considered me for the Black Cat Blue Sea Award.  I was intrigued by her questions, and am delighted to answer them.  Thank you, Erika, for choosing me.  I am humbled to be among the other nominees 🙂

Please visit Erika’s blog.  Her Daily Kind Quotes are very inspirational and thought provoking, and her Song of the Day gets you revved up and ready to go.  Erika’s insights to others, through her own experiences, makes it easy to fall in love with her blog..and her!

“This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.” – Ella

The rules of this award are:

  • Anybody nominated can nominate eight other bloggers.
  • The nominee answers three questions posed by the nominator.
  • The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions.
  • If any of the questions asked are offensive or the nominee simply does not want to answer, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.
[And I would add: notify your nominees about their nominations at their blogs].

Here are the three questions that Erika asked:

What do you love most about yourself?

hmmm, you may have me on this one.  As Erika knows, confidence is not one of my finer points.  But I’m working on it.  I would have to say it’s the fact that I’m writing, living a dream.  It was something I always did, but never thought anyone would care.  I’m finding out, through comments, etc, that I was wrong, and it humbles me to think I have reached another soul through my words.

What do you love most about someone who challenged you the most? (No irony, I mean it!)

This one is easy for me.  A dear friend, always, and I mean always, challenged me to be me.  He wouldn’t let me off easily, but he did it in a loving and supportive way.  He is the reason I began this blog and part of the reason I write today.  Sadly, he passed away in November of last year.  Do I still hear him pushing?  You bet.  Do I know he’s still behind me all the way?  Absolutely!

What do you love most about your current life?

My family.  I am surrounded by the most amazing people.  The beautiful life around me, nature, skies, anything and everything under Heaven.  There is never a day I forget to say thank you for opening my eyes to all this wonderment.  I am truly blessed.

Thank you again, Erika, for nominating me!  Since most of the blogs I follow are award free, I am going to list just a few of the people I think fit this award perfectly.  They’re free to answer the same three questions Erika asked me and are under no obligation to do so  🙂

It’s hollow in the darkness
Where thoughts and fears collide
The rapid beating of my heart
That tears me up inside

Can you hear my silent cries?
Soft whispers in the night
Do you hear me calling you?
When things don’t go just right

Don’t leave me here, alone,
Again, I cannot face the day
These battles, much too hard to win
My body, worn and frayed

Answers to my questions
Left lingering in air
I’m asking for your comfort, please!
Just let me know you’re there

A sign to reassure me
Everything will be alright
It’s hollow in this darkness
I need to see your light

Friday Fantasy ~ A Dragon’s Story

“If you sit very quietly, still as can be
I will read you this book, ‘A Dragon’s Story’”

“Yes, read me a story, by candlelight’s glow
Tales of the dragons, who lived long ago
Tell me about how they ruled over land
Was it their fire that made them so grand?”

“I’ll tell you a story if you quiet your words
It’ll be very hard if I cannot be heard”

“Or was it their towering, majestic stance,
That could frighten you away with a single glance?
Did they capture the village in a fiery blaze,
Leaving the people in a smoke filled haze?”

“Too many questions in this evening’s sitting
Perhaps another night would be more fitting?”

“Or can you tell me, were they more like me?
The one who sits quietly, listening to thee”
