Gazing up at a graying sky
That hides the golden sun
Sighing as the birds fly by
And wishing I was one
Watching the squirrels frolic
Among the rustling leaves
That fall to the ground incessantly
From my backyard trees
Feeling the breeze upon my face
On this dreary autumn day
Taking in the beauty around me
And all that it portrays

Along this forest path I roam
The spirits gather, unbounded
Through the mist, creeping
Their spindled arms reaching
Nowhere can I run, surrounded
Clutching at me with their thorns
Denying my passage of right
Desolate, lonely, forlorn
They cry in the silence of night
Yet as darkness grows dimmer
And morn starts to shimmer
The illusion fades in the light

Hidden within me
Seen only by my eyes
Visions of you so powerful, true
Deep from my soul arise
Intimate thoughts invade me
Kept silently near to my heart
Wordlessly speaking, body weakening
My secrets never to impart

Shadows once hidden
Drawing you out
Your heart begins to pound
The Demon invading
Holding you hostage
Enslaved, Ensnared, Bound
No way to escape
The Darkness within
It swallows you whole in a flash
You’re soaring so high
Not a care in the world
Unaware of the imminent crash
Heroin use is rising everyday. Pay attention. Talk to your children. Know what’s going on in their lives. Don’t ever say “not my kid” because there’s no such thing. Be involved….be a parent.
Sadly, my son and daughter have both lost classmates to this horrible drug. To watch 20 something’s lay a friend to rest is a nightmare. We can stop it….but only if we care.

A wizard’s gain
Chaste, unsullied
Bound and sacrificed
Surrendered, discarded
The dark villain, prodigious
Nefarious, malevolent
Taking claim of his bounty
As evil triumphs over virtue
