The breeze had become rather fervent

A chill followed, on wind’s blustery tail

But, I think it’s a bit more disingenuous

When leaving dense fog, behind, in its trail

Cosmic moods of fiery night
Swirl in whispered breaths
Envelop me in sweet caress
In your ever infinite depths

Rest upon my shoulders
Let the magic take control
Fly about in vibrant splendor
Guide me to the celestial pole

Taunt me with your voices
Low in a breathless sigh
Send me through this odyssey
With the clouds upon the sky

Take me far into the wonders
Exquisite with everlasting love
Ethereal beings traveling down
From the heavens high above

Spare the child
For she is
Too young
To know the truth
Too naïve
To understand
Why not
Blame yourself
Instead of
Putting her
In harm’s way
For the sake
Of your own
Insanity
Spare the child
Your drama
Self-centered
Never
Looked good
On you
Instead
Thank God
She grew
Into a woman
Self-confident
Not self-absorbed

I would never bet my life, on a written narrative

But, oh dear, I’m afraid, that is exactly what I do!

Perhaps I’ll go abroad, yes, do a foreign comparative

While I stalk the local folks, for another novel or two

Where the Wild Things Aren’t – #MayWriting – #poetry – #Cinquain

Shameful

Devastation

Destroying, without care

No concern for another’s life

Humans

Author’s note: A careless flick of a match, or cigarette, or a campfire left smoldering, can potentially burn hundreds of thousands of acres, diminishing natural habitats for wildlife.. *Scientists don’t have any good estimates on the number of animals that die in wildfires each year. But there are no documented cases of fires—even the really severe ones—wiping out entire populations or species (Thank God!).  Of course, some animals do die in the smoke and fire—those that can’t run fast enough or find shelter. Young and small animals are particularly at risk. And some of their strategies for escape might not work—a koala’s natural instinct to crawl up into a tree, for example, may leave it trapped. *Info via National Geographic
