In front of the iron gateway

She stood, thinking about her life

She was once a princess, fair

Now a woman, filled with strife

Things were becoming impossible

With each day, she tried to decide

Should she open up the bars?

And step into the realm, on the other side?

Something told her, she’d better chance it

Dare not leave a dragon, waiting for his bride

One last glance, then through the doorway

Uncertainty leaving her, by the wayside

She is a child of purest nature

A beauty, bestowed to the Earth

Among fragrant, multicolored flowers

Green grass, and butterflies adrift in the air

They dance for her, a ballet of splendor

Fluttering wings, their acknowledgement

They have captured and beguiled

Her applause, a request for an encore

And she smiles, with sheer delight

Out-dazzling the morning’s sun

There was nothing ugly about her

Feathers glistening, meant to stun

A tuft of white, hidden beneath her

Nature’s Beauty, cannot be undone

Gliding, gracefully, in waters green

She shines, with the morning sun

Ebony gleams, in the light of day

As a swan, she is second to none

Write a poem, you must… (courtesy of Alyssa)

“Do. Or do not. There is no try”
Why do you speak like this?
Understanding, trouble I’m having
I think something is amiss

I never understood your ways
Even Luke had quite a time
This misuse of the language
Should most certainly be a crime

I suppose you’re much too old now
To be corrected in your speech
So continue on, we’ll let you go
But these lines, we must unteach

So others do not this mistake make
Speak logically, this they must
Or Webster, a fight there will be
For he surely will combust
