Each night, as she approached the stairs

He would appear, but was not really there

Unsure, if it was simply her imagination

Wondering, if it was merely her own creation

Never could she find him, he was hidden well

Still, he held her, completely, under his spell

Spindles on the staircase, illuminated glow

Shadows in the hallway, dancing to and fro

Footsteps creaking, across the floor of tiles

They seemed to keep walking on, for miles

No matter where she turned, she was alone

The only sound around, a low, guttural groan

Twas the shimmer of a light, quite an eerie thing

Laughter at the doorway, made the doorbell ring

Why is it, he would toy with her, and scare her so?

Why was she chosen, perhaps, she’ll never know

It never happened before, no, not to her

She was always the one, who rejected

Now she sat alone, with life, just a blur

Not even the water, in the pool, reflected

How she was feeling, deep down inside

An emptiness, filled, the whole of her belly

Passing her by, heard remarks, rather snide

Her heart broken in two, legs feeling like jelly

She tried to ignore, but it was so hard to do

All she wanted was a little love, and affection

But karma has a way of turning back on you

Its number one rule, no such thing as perfection

If we were to take the daredevil approach to life

Cast off, into the future, without any hesitation

We may not be prescient, though, we can strive

To build a better place, for our children’s foundation

Fire

Igniting sky

Sparks electricity

A turmoil between cloud and light

Scorching

When morning light begins
And says goodnight to moon

I try to escape what’s in
The house, this awful tune

A song that lingers on and on
It’s one not easy to forget

Sounding more like a drone
And eventually, one, I regret

To hear it again, I don’t wanna
It’s enough to make me dread

Kind of reminds me of Manamana
Now try getting it out of your head

Still my daughter sings to me
This song she learned so well

And all it ever brings to me
Is a headache, and a dizzy spell

Author’s Note: For those of us with children, this song was a staple in the house for years. The Elephant Show and its theme song was always being sung. Just minutes ago, I told my daughter the prompt, and yes, you guessed it, she started singing it. She’s 29… lol  Never heard it?  Listen HERE – Good luck getting it out of your head.
