She wept, into the silence of her pillow

No arms to comfort, no one to ease the pain

She was alone, left there to battle

Demons who constantly won, the evils

Who never gave her a chance, and still

She tries, tries harder than before, only

Left with nothing but the pool, collected

From her eyes, reddened, swollen, bruised

Unattractively noticeable, she remains

Locked in her room, the only safe haven

Away from the wars, the constant agony,

Her four walls, a sanctuary for her battered heart

Much Too Weak ~ #NaPoWriMo #dark #poetry

A tremor, of which, there is no control

Wrestles my being, invading my soul

Carries me down, into the darkened abyss

How much longer, can I go on like this!

Looking for mercy, from the pain that’s inflicted

The horrors, and heartache, that have me restricted

No movement can ease, this demon inside me

Under my pillow, perhaps I can hide me

From dealing with this, again and again

And others who look, with obvious disdain

They know not what it is, I am truly feeling

Or how much destruction, I’ve been concealing

Am I never to find the answers I seek?

Or is it just that I’ve gotten much too weak?

Should I try to put this pain, and misery to rest?

And forget all this time, I am still quite oppressed

The sound, thunderous, like a storm unbridled. I held my head in my hands to stop the pain. It didn’t work, as the harder I pressed my fingers to my temples, the stronger the pounding became. I tried burying myself under a pillow, perhaps it would muffle the noise. I tried a different room. The sound dissipated, but only slightly, becoming a rather obnoxious thud, a cacophony of war drums, incessant and ceaseless. I dared to release my hands from my head and journey back into the other room, hoping the echoing had subsided and I could return to the peaceful silence I had before, but alas, there it was. That irritating rhythm, that knocking, that, now, what the ….? Who’s yelling?? Who’s yelling?!!

Body ravaged by an unknown being
Time escapes, an unsettled fleeing

Torn and tattered in bits and pieces
No longer feeling simple releases

Fighting the fury kept deep inside
Seeking the comfort that’s long been denied

Hidden apart from an every day dream
Visions aren’t always what they seem

Clustered around with anger and strife
Wondering why this has taken my life

So many dreams have been swept away
Agony brings yet another day

Of fighting a battle with ghosts deep inside
Seeking the comfort that’s long been denied
