Fire sizzles against waters, vast
A mere reflection of the past
Day goes by, again, returns
Still the fire, there, does burn
***
Sleep now, in the evening glow
This final resting place, you go
So sad we can’t forever stay
Why must it always be this way?
***
When time reminds us, day is done
And with the earth, we become one
Much like the fire that leaves the sky
We will, at last, need say goodbye
Author’s Note: I wrote this poem with a heavy heart. There has been so much sadness this past year or so, and still, it continues. My heart goes out to all who lost loved ones… ❤

Monochromatic colors
Cover over, in the dark
Moonbeams, casting shadows
Cross the river, in the park
As I stand upon the bridge
Looking up to blackened sky
I see you watching over me
And wish that I could fly
Into your sweet tranquility
Where I can touch your face
Forgot about the world below
Find peace, in your lunar grace
This poem, and others like it, can be found in my poetry chapbook “Dark is the night“.

Tattered, careworn, binding now torn
Pages turn yellow as the days quickly pass
Opened, then closed, like a delicate rose
The stories it holds will forever last
Far from commentary, treasured, extraordinary
Men scribed their ways through the times
Speaking of glory, their Savior, his story
Teachings of Heaven, His Father, Divine
