As this poem has become somewhat of a tradition, and we are experiencing our first snowfall, it’s only right I should share this once again!! Enjoy!

I still don’t have the answer
To a question asked
So long ago
Why do you buy milk, eggs and bread
When someone mentions snow?
Does this sinfully sweet
Breakfast fare
Make us become a little manic
If we don’t get the ingredients
Do we all begin to panic?!
Do the slices of bread
With their cinnamon swirl
Remind you of riding a sled?
Or the soft golden butter
Melting over the top
Remind you of warm days ahead?
Do the fluffy white flakes
Falling down from the sky
Remind you of powdered confection?
Or the syrup that’s oozing
Dripping over the sides
Remind you of sweet perfection?
I want to know the simple truth
About this French Toast story
I’m pretty sure it’s not just snow
That gives it all its glory
Here’s the original story that asked the burning question: What Is It About Snow & French Toast?

Good morning, friends. Have you gobbled til you wobbled? I can’t believe it’s December first!! Another year has flown by. Have you accomplished the things you wanted to do? I think a nice cup of tea would be perfect right now. Won’t you join me, sit a while and chat? 🙂
If we were sipping tea and talking I would tell you: with Thanksgiving behind us, all the stores have kicked it into high gear with their Christmas season, totally missing the real meaning of the day. I did no shopping on Thanksgiving, or Black Friday. Actually, I usually don’t! lol I prefer the mom & pop shops over big box, but I did get something from Amazon on Saturday. See, I waited. 😉
If we were sipping tea and talking I would tell you: we had Shadow this week, and we’ll be walking him tonight, weather permitting. He’s such a fun pup! He really brightens up my day, or night, since we walk him at 6PM. 🙂
If we were sipping tea and talking I would tell you: we are bracing for a snowstorm in NJ. Now, if you live here, you know, most of the time they get it wrong. When they predict a storm, we get flurries. When they predict flurries, we get a foot! So we’re all hoping they got it wrong this time. Although I have to admit, I do like that first snowfall. Everything looks so pretty. But not a foot at a time! Plus, the cold and I don’t get along. I become a hermit until spring!
If we were sipping tea and talking I would tell you: we had a beautiful church service on Wednesday, with our worship team leading us in song, and giving thanks to those we are grateful for, especially the Lord. This picture is the altar with the team, although the two ladies, and one man, are missing. From left to right, John (on guitar), Brad (vocals), John (on drums), Pastor Charlie (on guitar) & Harvey (on keyboards)
If we were sipping tea and talking I would tell you: I’ve been keeping busy with getting the house ready for Alyssa’s and my LuLaRoe Launch Party, as well as the holidays. I’m really loving the color of the walls I’ve painted. I went with a soft beige, Sandstorm, to be exact. Matches the rug perfectly!! I’m hoping to be finished by the end of this week. So much to do, so little time!
As for the week ahead:
If we were sipping tea, basking in the sun and talking I would tell you: tomorrow, I get to walk Darty! Alyssa will be in PA on another puppy sitting adventure. Unless the snow is really bad, then we all might be stuck here.
If we were sipping tea, basking in the sun and talking I would tell you: our church’s WOW Christmas Fellowship is Saturday. WOW stands for Women of Worship. It is a beautiful event, for the ladies only. This year’s theme is “The Comfort of Christmas.” I’m really looking forward to it!
If we were sipping tea, basking in the sun and talking I would tell you: (weather permitting) it’s off to church I go! I have Avon duty, since Lys is not here. Wish me luck! Until next time, be well, and have a blessed week, my friends! ❤

Come closer, I’ll not bite you
That’s really quite absurd
Can’t you see, from the look in my eye
I am no ordinary bird
My feathers shine in ebony
The blackest you will ever see
I am not the raven spoken of
The one Edgar Allan knew
I really am quite different
I know this to be true
Though dark am I, as the evening sky
You’ll feel me near, as my wings fly by
Duck your head, protect your hair
The world above is mine
I’ll fly by you, without a care
I’m simply quite divine
Onyx, against the leaves of green
The most beautiful bird you’ve ever seen
No need to be frightened of me
If you stay in the distance, in fact
Shoo me away, and off I’ll go
But you can bet, one day, I’ll be back

The midnight sky
With a touch of her hand
Allowing the light to shine through
Morning
As the darkest day ends, fleeing
Seeking newer places
To claim its own
She smiles
