She felt her end drawing near
Watched, as the candles burned
They melted away, drip by drip
As the season slowly turned

Winter’s magic began to dwindle
She felt Spring was on her way
Time was running short, you see
As snow fell, on this dismal day

Waiting, was the hardest part
She knew she had no chance
The flowers would awaken
Sway in the winds, and dance

Until that time, she pondered
Wondered how to make it stop
The cold, still lingered, in her
Making temperatures drop

Soon melted, the snow, beneath her
Filled her with much disdain
Another season, passed her by
Twas the end, of Winter’s reign

His hands were rough

Against the softness of her skin

An unshaven face

Bristled against her neck

His lips, a salted cold

Whispered, sending chills

Time together shortened

He would soon set sail

A memory, until he returned

A longing deep within

He was all she knew

And it was his touch

She would always crave

Sitting on the Sidewalk ~ #poetry of the #homeless

The rustle of dried up leaves
No welcome sound to ancient ears
Another season comes to an end
Autumn’s gone, as winter nears

How he hates the cold, dark days
When the wind whips through his bones
How he longs for summertime
When warmth is offered, as his home

Cardboard walls, no privacy
Kicked about by strangers feet
Unaware, that he lives there
To them it’s just another street

On days where he can stand the cold
He sits, bundled in a threadbare coat
Hoping they’ll notice how hungry he is
Carefully reading his scribbled note

Most will only smile, in dismay
Not really knowing what they fear
And he sits on the sidewalk, outside his box
As his darkness draws another tear

Wheezing and Sneezing ~ #poetry #NovemberWriting

The holiday season is here
Everyone’s filled with good cheer
But I have this cold, or so I’ve been told
Maybe you shouldn’t come near

People are shopping like crazy
I shop online, ‘cause I’m lazy
But the doctor affirms, I picked up some germs
Now everything seems a bit hazy

I wonder how that can be
Is this why I’m feeling crappy?
A box full of tissues, oh, so many issues!
Please pour me another cup of tea

I whistle when I breathe, I’m wheezing
And in between that, I keep sneezing
My nose is on fire, all I do is perspire
How can that be if I’m freezing?

Tylenol, Advil, Aleve
With these three things, I believe
I can chase this away, at least for today
Perhaps, just a little reprieve

I’m starting to feel some relief
This cold took my spirit, what a thief!
I hope it’s not longer, til I feel much stronger
Until then, I’ll just lie here, (good grief)
