She bends like a reed, in a summer breeze

Caught in the balance, arms stretched, with ease

Hair flowing gently, as her head tilts awry

The look on her face, says she set her sights high

She is able to move, with such elegant grace

While the look in his eyes, is the only trace

Of a love, so possessive, he wants her, his own

Yet, she wants no part, so he leaves, quite alone

For he knows it’s not him, and it will never be

She is tied to no man, the dance sets her free.

By the look on her face, in this empty space
Feelings of sorrow must fill this place
No one around, on this hardened ground
Echoing footsteps, nary making a sound

What was once here, no longer clear
She watched how easily, it could disappear
Held on til the end, body broke, didn’t bend
Perhaps it is better to merely pretend

But joy did fade, when it should have stayed
Mind games, something they always played
Gone, is the time, remembered, sublime
Knocked down, sadly, before her prime

Unable to stand, not what she had planned
Longing for the life, she once held so grand
Photos on the wall, surely tell it all
Faded, with memories, her rise to her fall

In a class all her own, no history sown
Worthless,  dejected, left there alone
Ballerina dance! Pointed toes, pure romance
Heartbroken, never given the chance…

Life in the shadows, child of night,

Ventures forth, as curiosity calls.

Stopping in her tracks, mesmerized

As the sun on her face, does fall

Frocked in tulle, a ballerina babe

Enchanted by the forest, she waits.

Flickers of light, against the trees,

Eyes become wider, pupils dilate.

She hesitates, afraid to go further,

Yet, something draws her into it,

A recollection of happier ways

In dreams, one must simply pursue it.

Come, child, it said,

Follow the rays.

Let the light guide you,

Through the darker days.”

She found serenity, when she took the stage

With each graceful move, she would disengage

Lost to the dance, alone, no one else included

Caught up in the music, her world, so secluded

From all that had happened, and all that will

With a simple pirouette, and such elegant skill

She glided across the floor, a Prima Ballerina

Reminded them all, of the goddess, Athena

The eyes of those, who watched, and stared

Knew her beauty, could never be compared

They fell for her, she never paid them any mind

She created pandemonium, of a different kind

She dances, as the full moon shines

Prima ballerina, is one, with the light

Her costume, flows in glistening lines

She is the maiden, of the lunar night

Stars awakening, to watch her grace

Blinking, and twinkling, above her

They are an audience, taking their place

Applauding her moves, how they love her

Each night, she dances her way back

To the circle, in the sky, she adores

Until the circle starts to fade, go black

Tis then, she draws the curtain, once more
