Selfie by Alyssa…who very nicely let me use it for my poem.

I solemnly swear, she said to me

That I am up to no good, this I can see

She gives me that coy little smile

Ok, she melts my heart for awhile

But I know what’s behind that grin

Thank goodness, she is not a twin

I wouldn’t know what to do

One is enough, imagine two!

And when she has you, in her spell

Her kind of magic, you can’t quell

The truth is, she is not a brat

But that really is her silly hat

Seems the t-shirt matches that

This girl does surely beguile

Caught in the Act – #NaPoWriMo – #AprilWriting – #poetry – #Easter

Alyssa was caught in the act!

I thought it was safe, and no one was near

When all of a sudden, I saw Mommy dear

She had a hand on her hip, and a look in her eye

She caught me red handed, all I did was sigh

It’s a habit I have, each year, with a bunny

I bite off his ears, it makes him look funny

I know it’s not nice, but I don’t do it very often

Besides, it’s no good, if the chocolate does soften

                                 ++++

It only happens on Easter, and it brings her such bliss

So, Happy Easter to you, from chocolate-faced Lys!

*No real bunnies were harmed during the writing of this poem… I can’t speak for the chocolate ones, though.  😉

Dry your tears, baby girl, and reach up to the sky

God will be your guiding light, set your spirits high

Speak to Him today, let Him take away your sorrows

Then speak to Him again, and all of your tomorrows

Do not worry, baby girl, everything’s been planned

Let the sadness disappear, into God’s almighty hands

Smile, my baby girl, let no more tears be shed

Just look up to Heaven, let His light shine through, instead

New Book Release! “Seasons – Spring Haiku – Book Three”

I’m excited to announce that my Haiku series “Seasons” now has its third book entitled “Spring Haiku”. This new Haiku book joins “Autumn Haiku” and “Winter Haiku”, in the four part series about, well, you know, SEASONS!

The Haiku in this book are best described as:

Spring – the season of renewal and rebirth. When the soft pastel colors blend with the vibrancy of the deep rich earth, from which it grows. The season we anxiously await to arrive, allowing us to savor and rejoice in the warm sunlit days, before summer makes her appearance.

I am particularly excited about this book’s cover. My daughter, Alyssa, provided the gorgeous floral photograph that now graces it. I am honored that she gave me permission to use this picture, as it perfected the title of the book.

“Seasons – Spring Haiku, Book Three” contains 50 Haiku in a 5X8 format, paperback only, and is available on Amazon.com. If you would like a signed copy, please follow this link to order!  (Signed copies are only through me).

I hope you enjoy this addition to the series, as much as I have enjoyed putting it together for you!
