#FridayFantasy ~ No Ordinary Bird – #poetry

Come closer, I’ll not bite you
That’s really quite absurd
Can’t you see, from the look in my eye
I am no ordinary bird

My feathers shine in ebony

The blackest you will ever see

I am not the raven spoken of
The one Edgar Allan knew
I really am quite different
I know this to be true

Though dark am I, as the evening sky

You’ll feel me near, as my wings fly by

Duck your head, protect your hair
The world above is mine
I’ll fly by you, without a care
I’m simply quite divine

Onyx, against the leaves of green

The most beautiful bird you’ve ever seen

No need to be frightened of me
If you stay in the distance, in fact
Shoo me away, and off I’ll go
But you can bet, one day, I’ll be back

She lifts

The midnight sky

With a touch of her hand

Allowing the light to shine through

Morning

As the darkest day ends, fleeing

Seeking newer places

To claim its own

She smiles

Thankful Tidings – #DoubleEtheree – #poetry challenge

Colleen’s poetry challenge for this week is synonyms only!  Her two words are End and Hurry.  Check out Colleen’s blog to find which forms of poetry are acceptable for this challenge.  Have fun!

Written as a Double Etheree, my synonyms are Fragment and Bustle.

A
Crystal
Flurries down
Rushing to meet
A man made of white.
Top hat upon his head
Eyes of coal, a carrot nose,
Mittened hands, endless snowball fights
Days of youth, returning within us.
The bustle of the holiday season.
The coming together of family,
Dearest to our hearts, celebrating
A thankfulness, many blessings
Each one, a mere fragment, of
Years gone by, call to mind
All who have gathered
Bringing with them
Tidings of
Great joy,
Love

When our world is too intense

Life becomes a mess
