The Silence is Deafening – #poetry of the #lost

“You okay?” He asks,
“Swell”, my reply,
While wistfully staring,
And wondering why

He’d bother to ask,
Does he really care?
Or is it just habit,
Because I am there.

Time spent together,
In silence, creeps by.
No matter how much,
I just no longer try

To engage conversation,
From one, far away,
Who turns off the chatter,
Doesn’t hear what I say.

Perhaps it is me,
Who doesn’t quite hear
The words, left unsaid,
Though, the meaning is clear

So I bury myself,
In a place, tucked away
Where the silence is deafening,
But the Lord hears me pray.

Darkness in the distance plays, my thoughts, they start to mingle; is it calm or trepidation that makes my senses tingle? Chiseled rocks, I climb upon, careful to plant my feet; so to peer beyond the opening, then, wondering what I’ll meet.

Is it just an empty cave? Or does something live within? Do I dare to challenge this? I hesitate, as I begin. Quietly making my way inside, sneaking about, like a tiny mouse, I realize I am not alone, it is me inside this house.

Silently moving within this space, I hear her voice, to me, she is calling; “No need to be afraid, my dear”, as my legs give, but I’m not falling. I stumble, to try to find the earth, the solid ground, underneath, is no longer; ever slowly, I feel myself rising above, my spirit, growing much stronger.

I am not afraid, no fear inside, for I know no harm will come to me; I have found the entrance, to my life, where my soul can, finally, be set free.

#Review for “Short & not always Sweet” – it made my soul smile!

Author Leslie Walter left this beautiful review, of my book, “Short & not always Sweet” on my Facebook wall.  The words made my soul smile.  I wanted to share them with all of you.  ❤

SHORT & NOT ALWAYS SWEET

If you venture to visit this faraway land, and you should, the only means of transport is to let your fingers do the walking through the changing scenery. The peaceful beauty of a Viceroy settled in the warmth of a summer garden announces the beginning of this poetic journey. A journey that advances as the afternoon sun lowers casting shadows, shadows that lengthen into the evening dusk delivering you through mysterious archways into the cold corridors of twilight. Throughout the dark hours of night loneliness is illuminated by senses of spiritual enlightenment until the dawn announces a new day, but all is not the same, you are not the same, such is the emotional influence of this poetic journey.
If you venture to visit this faraway land, and you should, do not anticipate a straight road for there are many twists and turns where distance and time are without measure. Observe with both eyes and mind, do not ignore a page, do not ignore a line, do not ignore a single word, for you will experience a sincere insight into the heart and soul of a beautiful poet. You may even be surprised to learn that Dorinda Duclos’s intuitive writing can arouse moments of déjà vu within the depths of your own mind.

Fire does smoulder

While life battles against it

Til it is subdued
