The Century of Certainty ~ #MayWriting #poetry

I think it was just a century ago

Yes, I’m certain it wasn’t much longer

When I cast the spell of fire’s light

Twas then I became much stronger

Making colors dance, in rhythmic circles

While, below, Earth lit up the night

I stood high, above the mountain tops

Watching clouds, with mysterious light

Magical spells, calling forth my sisters

Let them rise in celebrated breath

Let them shine their light, in the darkness

Giving purpose, to their immortal death

I could feel my sisters, gathered around me

One’s who had passed, still in their prime

Banished by those, who misunderstood

I knew know, it was nearly my time

This promise, I make, to those before

I will never let you be cast aside

For you are the fire, burning in my soul

The reason you shall never be denied

Friday Fantasy ~ The Paths of Yesterday – #poetry

Verdant path to follow home

Free to wander, free to roam

Captivates my earthly senses

Awakens yet, my own defenses

Of never knowing what I’ll find

Around the corner of my mind

The misty haze, of the mountain pass

Turns to reed and binding grass

Cobblestones pave the lush green aisle

And feel myself begin to smile

It is here, where I belong, to play

To forget the paths of yesterday

Posed ~ #MayWriting #poetry

Posed, she was a lady in waiting

Golden ruffles, gathered with grace

She stood there, impatiently waiting

With nary a smile on her face

Seems she’d been there for quite awhile

Surrounded by marble and flora

Hoping to catch a glimpse of him

And become his darling signora

But the hours passed by, still nothing

The man of her dreams didn’t show

So she went to bed, fully dressed

Using her frock, as a comfy throw

Guilty ~ #darkpoetry

Locked away, a mind, alone
Why she’s here, must not be condoned

They took her, from her family, where
She lived, in sin, a life, unfair

Mother made her wash the beds
Father, made her lie, instead

Abused, now merely an empty shell
How could he put her through this hell?

A man, she trusted, left her bare
Tangled up, in strands of hair
He laughed, as she cried, in despair
Wishing to wake from this nightmare

One day, she ran, into the street
Finally admitting, this was her defeat

Calamitous screams, they ran to her side
Standing there naked, she’d no sense of pride

Sirens came calling, the jury was heard
Guilty, they said, was the only word

Grateful, she smiled, for saving her life
No longer abused, no longer in strife

Pastel Perspectives ~ #MayWriting #poetry

Azure blue, the perfect sky

I sit and watch, and peacefully sigh

A flower blooms, in the softest pink

I’m lost in the meadow, and quietly think

How beautiful it is, to be able to see

A world, in pastels, so perfectly
