A Ladder to the Universe – #poeticprose – #whatdoyousee?

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

A rather odd-shaped ladder, led me to this wall; I wonder, should I step over, what will happen if I fall? The painted sign tells me “THE BEGINNING IS NEAR”; what I see from this vantage point, is beautiful and clear. But what exactly does that mean, I thought this was the end; if I was to leave this planet, I surely hope I would ascend. Yet, I can only see, ahead of me, a sky so blue; perhaps this is my destiny, though I’m not sure what to do.

I feel a wee bit lost, to this I have avowed; still, I cannot pull myself away, watching celestial clouds. Saturn captures my very heart, tis a place I long to see; will they welcome an earthling, or exile the likes of me? That nebula looks lovely, and that distant star, aglow; a few more steps is all I need, then over the top I’ll go! On second thought, it’s best I wait, until the time is right; for now I’ll leave the universe here, and bid it a grand goodnight.

No matter how careful she was
In the end, she‘d nick her nails
Her manicurist truly loved it
Had lots of money, Mrs. Upscale

At least twice a week, once three
She’d be in to get things fixed
Other days she thought about it
Somewhere between and betwixt

Soon Mr. Upscale noticed funds
Disappearing, before his eyes
When questioning the misses
All she could do was just sigh

I spent it on my nails, you see
They have to look their very best
But, the mister wasn’t buying it
No, he surely wasn’t impressed

That’s it! He bellowed loudly
No more pretty paint for you
You’ll have to do your own nails
Yes, that’s exactly what you’ll do

Fine she thought, she’d fix him good
She went out and bought the parlor
Now, she gets her nails done daily
And it doesn’t even cost her a dollar

When thrown in a dungeon, about, ye should look

Written somewhere, a quite intriguing message

While guarding the keep, watching from his book

Only the dragon knows, this could well be a presage

Friday Fantasy ~ The Last – #poetry

The midnight sun rises, sheds its light

As I sit here, making music, in the night

He plays a fiddle, made from thine bones

While my guitar strums, though not alone

A ghostly vision, stands near and plays

The fountain bubbles in mysterious ways

I feel the fire and flora, as they swoon

I can’t help notice, what of this moon?

Does it bring to me, a glimpse, too far?

Or a warning, played, through my guitar

So many men, this way have passed

I dare wonder now, am I the last?

There was a hygienist, named Ruth

Always found cavities like a sleuth!

But she never would numb

To the pain, you succumb

Evil grin, as she yanked out your tooth!
