What could that sound possibly be?
Perhaps it’s a branch from the old oak tree

I don’t know, mommy, it sounds very scary
Don’t worry, honey, maybe it’s a fairy!

No, they don’t make a howling noise
Oh? Maybe it the neighbor’s unruly boys

No, no, it’s not them, they’re fast asleep
Don’t cry, my daughter, no need to weep

I’m frightened by whatever is making that sound
Why, it’s only the wind, its voice, quite profound

I really don’t know how to start this
Dear Michelle, what on Earth have you done?

You want me to write about skeevers who suck
I think you’ve absorbed too much sun

The only skeevers I really know about
Are those who are afraid to touch

Things that others have slobbered on
Like silverware, drink straws, and such

Is this what I’m supposed to write about?
It’s kind of gross, I don’t think that I should

But I promised I’d do all the writing prompts
And this is the best I could do, hope it’s good!

Come to me, my sweet apparition

My dream has now come to fruition

Your flame, solely, belongs to me

A spirit, a guardian, I welcome thee

Rising up from the fire, we become

One with the flame, and easily succumb

Together, we embrace the true beauty

Of the fire, the spirit, and the mighty bee

An uproarious tale was once told
How she’d steal everything, made of gold
Though the goods were all fake
She would snatch and she’d take
Anything that could possibly be sold

Keeping everything, in such great disorder
They mistakenly arrested her daughter
For something she didn’t do
But took the blame, nothing new
And let Mom make a run for the border

Days Grow Dim ~ #NaPoWriMo #darkpoetry

I can feel the soothing drops of rain

Seeping through the pores of my skin

Washing away the hurt and pain

Cleansing my soul, from deep within

Reaching inside, I drown in my sorrow

Letting it dwell, in a pool of my blood

Wondering, will I see tomorrow?

I open my heart, to let in the flood

That swiftly carries my lifeless limbs

Down a river that has no name

Tis then I realize, my days grow dim

Once again, I’m the one who’s to blame
