In a cavern, far below the earth
Darkness could easily be found
Violet stones show their worth
Underneath the frozen ground

Shards, the likes of icy gems
Glisten, when they catch the light
But beauty hides the worst of them
They disappear, nowhere in sight

You cannot see the danger, when
You walk across the tundra
The cavern opens up its jaws, then
It carries you, down under

There’s no escape, from the well below
You’ve reached your eternal slumber
And they’ll go back to their violet glow
But your mind, will be torn asunder

Midnight
Darkest hour
No light

Day gone
Fades into black
Moves on

Moon shows
Chases the gloom
And glows

Hidden in the fog, with the morning light

Maniacal mysteries, and terrible frights

No people to see, at least no one living

Milmonyville, was a place, unforgiving

Tragic tales, of murder, filled the town

Claiming the men, who didn’t back down

Nefarious carrying on, in the streets

You best run now, go on, use your feet

Hightail it out, of the land filled with dread

But be careful where you step…

Or you could wind up dead.

I was hungry one day, not much in the house
Walked into the kitchen, met up with a mouse
Seems he was looking, for the same thing as I
Sorry, little buddy, nothing here, so goodbye

He scurried about, then was off on his way
Hoping I wouldn’t see him, for the rest of the day
I opened the fridge, to figure out what I had
Lettuce, some cheese, a tomato, not bad

I even found ham, and a burger roll to boot
Started making my lunch, when I heard a horn toot
My neighbor stopped by, new car, shiny black
Waved her off with a smile, as I had to get back

To finishing my sandwich, my belly couldn’t wait
But the mouse found it first, too bad it’s not bait
He poked his head out, from between the layers
Seems my little buddy, turned into a betrayer

Took a wedge of cheese, I had tossed in the can
Put it on the counter, hoping he’d be a fan
After all, what rodent, doesn’t like cheese
A nice of chunk of Swiss, would surely please

Then, just when I thought, I had him trapped
He ducked back in my sandwich, and I snapped!
How dare he take, what was left of my kitchen?
Was he laughing at me, when at him I was bitchin’?

I’ll fix him, I said, as I threw out my sandwich
And with it, little buddy, I tossed him, he’s banished
But silly old me, now I’ve nothing to eat
That four legged critter, somehow, had me beat

Cause he was munching my lunch, the one in the trash
Chomping away, I could hear his teeth gnash
A lesson learned, from this food stealing mouse
Never let them live, as a guest, in your house

He had Gizmos Aplenty – #poetry #SeptemberWriting

Danny had gadgets and gizmos aplenty
And what he thought was a perfect life
Spent his days behind a computer screen
Even though he could be home with his wife

He’d come in each night, exhausted
Never listening to the kids and their chatter
What he really didn’t understand, was
He was ignoring the things that matter

Instead, he would drag himself into the den
Sit on the couch to play a game, always cued
Pause it, the minute his phone would ring
Told his family he didn’t want to be rude

He’d brush them away, like he didn’t care
What they needed, was his undivided attention
But he was more interested in his electronic toys
Which was always a point of contention

Seems gadgets were more important to him
And he could never figure out why
His wife and kids up and left him
Without ever saying goodbye
