For she is of a simple face

A fragile beauty, with gentle grace

Nestled among the lush of green

The likes of which you’ve never seen

Flora, beneath the heavenly hue

Soaking in colors, from skies of blue

Basking, under the brightest light

Swaying, beneath the dark of night

In this field, such sweet romance

Beguiling, she captures with a glance

Promises spoken in the dark

Words from lips lie cold and stark

Forgotten, as quickly as they’re said

Breathless, still, as we lie in bed

Turned away, no longer embraced

Satin nights that cannot be replaced

With a fire, once burning inside the heart

Slowly extinguished, as we grow apart

The storm raged
thunderous explosions
like the Fourth of July
without its colors
rattled windows
dislocated, limbs fell
against the glass
or did they knock
asking me, to let them in
shelter from the battle
I don’t know, shades drawn
lights out, I could not see
seated in the darkness
only my shadow reflected
on the wall, as lightning
danced across the skies
illuminated, then black again
ice pellets, echoed,
the noise, like machine guns,
ravaging the night, a hunter
claimed his prey
then unexpected silence
the only sound heard
was the peaceful rain,
gently falling.

a truce…………

Atop the mountains, morning mist, awakens with a sigh

Carried on the whispering wind, reaching for the sky

Climbing trees and bowing limbs, a journey to the top

To blend together with the clouds, traveling till they stop

Then fly again, across the plains, such wonder they display

As they turn the heavens into rain, on this dreary April day

Nourishing the ground below, the same from which they rose

Watching as a flower blooms, watching as her beauty grows
