He was so very deceptive, in a beguiling way
Romanced the ladies, a little game he would play
Word got around, about this hornswoggling dude
Women would talk, called him names, oh so rude
But he didn’t care, he continued to schmooze
Plates of lobster and steak, and plenty of booze
All he needed to do was say hello, wink, and smile
Flash his Rolex, and gold chains, but after awhile
This no longer worked, and he didn’t know why
Seems the gals had caught on, to this cheating guy

Life offers no comfort, to the ones who came back lost
Those whose minds, were taken, but really, at what cost
Trying to find the place, where last they knew their names
In a country that misunderstands, and never takes the blame
Locked inside, their restless souls, unable to assimilate
Homeless, lying in the street, oblivious to their fate
The drug of choice, so many, as they try to ease the pain
I pray to God, that someday, they’ll come back home, again
Smiling, gladly welcomed, by those they left behind
No longer in that empty space, that lingers, in their mind

Whenever she strutted her buttocks
The men became flustered, such lummox
She’d walk by, dressed in lace
With a smile on her face
Sassy was she, sweet Miss Ruddocks

They flew at her, pages, from all directions
Retaliation, from years of corrections
All she wanted, was simply perfection
The ones she rejected, had found resurrection
An editor’s job, is never that easy
Some of the books, left her feeling quite queasy
She never fancied, the ones that were sleazy
Those, she tossed, on the pile, marked cheesy
Books are alive, they’re a writer’s soul
Each published volume, a wordsmith’s goal
But these bound beauties, were out of control
Days like these, would always take their toll
On an editor, who, out of the library, ran
Dodging the many books, like a crazed madman
Frightened to death, yes, the books had a plan
And that, my friends, was the end of dear Nan
