The apocalypse was drawing near

Nothing left for humans, but to fear

Zombies, stalked the land by day

And in the night, found their prey

As anger ruled their empty minds

It taught them how to be unkind

But in the end, they too, did fall

Laughter could have saved them all

Destroying all they see, with fright

A ziglet of zombies, troll the night

Leaving the town, in chaos and fire

One by one, they fulfill their desire

Of taking down, the one’s so small

They have no sense of being, at all

Pieces of them, they drop on the way

Searching for their next, unwilling prey

Roaming the land, they hunt, pursue…

When the dead come to town, they’ll be looking for you…

All Hallows eve, the night closes in

Fantastical beasts return on a whim

Waiting and watching, the chill, we suspected

But shadows grow longer, and quite unexpected

The moon shines a glow, but it’s still not enough

To keep them from coming, though we try to rebuff

Witches and warlocks fly through the air

Skeletons rattle about without care

The living dead walk aimlessly in the dark

Ghosts and ghouls gather round in the park

All watching the clock, for the midnight hour

Impatiently waiting for what they will devour

Climb aboard, it’s very late

The bus arrives for you

Ghouls are here, to guide your way

And a ghostly quartet, too

Enjoy the ride, it’s cozy inside

Nothing to fear, nor frighten

Zombies make your trip quite nice

While goblins surely delight in

Watching you squirm about your seat

They say the trip is almost done

But the bus keeps going, no end in sight

Boo! This is what they call fun!

Friday Fantasy ~ Disinclined – #poetry

I walk into darkness, unhurried, alone
The sounds of my footsteps, carry on in a drone
Shuffling along streets, once cobblestone
Far away, I can hear them, the words, intone

Shadows surround me, make nary a sound
Darting through buildings, unearthing the ground
Where have I journeyed? What have I found?
I’ve awakened the dead, as they gather around

Taunting and teasing, they play with my mind
I wonder what it is, they hope they can find
Shaking their heads, they seem quite disinclined
To finally make me, one of their kind

Phew….
