They dance about, without a care

Top hat he dons, ribbons in her hair

Elegantly dressed, they spin and they twirl

She with her man, and he with his girl

He smiles when she giggles, her face so fair

She’s shy when he does, they make quite the pair

Yet, no one can see them, nor hear a sound

Of music that plays, from that place, underground

No matter to them, they don’t care if you do

The owl can hear them, til they bid it adieu

Through forest paths of fallen pines

I dare not tread beyond the lines

Of trails once traveled by those before

Trampled pieces, laid on the floor

The forest creatures flee in fright

Their habitat, a dreadful sight

No shelter left from blazing heat

No protection for their feet

Nothing to shield the flames of fire

There is nothing left but fallen brier

A single match was all it took

To change the way the forest looks

Charred beyond, this sight, obscene

By man, who burned, the evergreen

Note: Human-caused fires burn more than 2. 5 million acres each year, or nearly 4,000 square miles — an area bigger than Delaware. (FoxNews US)

Stars open their eyes

As the sky gives way to night

The universe blooms

Her wings no longer held her

Charred, in the blackest night

And still a smile across her lips

As her sword reflects the light

A gargoyle sits beside her

He watches and he waits

Frozen in a mass of stone

His disobedient fate

Behind her, the sky darkens

As the clouds begin their lament

Grounded on Earth, for evermore

She was never Heaven sent

Do I dare tempt my fate
With iron that blocks the way
Yes, I shall open up the gate
Let my imagination stray

Reflected in the waters there

Into the hidden secrets where

My inner thoughts do now betray
Kept shrouded in these stones
Where the Orphic demons play
Imprisoned in a vast unknown
