The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

A
Sentry
Vigilant
Over oceans
The guard of her realm
Her beauty marks the shore
Nothing comes close to her grace
As she sits, perched upon the rocks
While the mighty sea below her, bows
Knowing she is the queen of her domain

Colleen has given us the words Afraid and Grave for this week’s challenge.   Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry!  I used Catacombs and Frightened.   🙂

Buried deep in earth

Lie the catacombs of death

Apprehension dwells

Dare I seek absolution

Or be frightened evermore

At the Brink of the Link – #OctoberWriting #OctPoWriMo #poetry

She was dressed in a flowing gown of white, but there was nothing chaste about her; chained, her hands, to links of gold, she is the devil’s own, his saboteur. Fires blazed from her wings, as demons came to seek; the ones who dared to get too close, are made weaklings, ever meek. Her bindings, wrapped around a pole, each with a trio of skulls; snakes and scorpions at her feet, she’d been rejected, a mere cull. She would not settle for second best, she vowed to prove them wrong; unleashing her quite evil wrest, defeated those, so strong. For the skulls that clung so near her, fastened to the wooden pole; are the heads of those who cast her out, twas where she drowned them, in the shoal. So if at night, you hear a sound, a terrifying clink; take shelter far away from here, she’s found release, from the edge of the link.

The Earth offers no comfort

Many will hunger

I’m excited to reveal the cover for my next book, “Short & not always Sweet“!  As you can probably surmise by the title, it is my first book of short stories.  I have included passages and poetic prose, to round out my writing.  Some of you will recognize the stories from Sue Vincent’s Thursday #writephoto, but there’s a catch.  The stories have been continued!  The book is in the editing stages now, and will be available soon (I hope).  Without further ado…

The back reads:

“Imagine yourself being lost in a faraway land, or sailing on a pirate ship.  Perhaps you’ll find yourself in a predicament, or a romantic rendezvous. From passages to longer, more detailed stories, these are writings that are sure to capture your imagination and evoke emotions, from sadness, to madness, to happiness and beyond.”

I look forward to releasing the book soon, and hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it for you!
