All that chewy goodness

So tart and sweet and yummy

Doesn’t do me any good

It just expands my tummy

Not to mention what it does

To my sugar count, oh my

Still I shovel it in my mouth

Don’t know the reason why

Perhaps it’s the fruity flavor

They must know my weaknesses

A marketing ploy, if ever I’ve seen

Crafted by real jellied geniuses

She reeks of sugared candy, smells like a marshmallow

If she keeps this up, she’ll soon be looking sallow

Popping in the treats, savoring one after the other

She has to eat them quickly, not saving for her brother

Stacking them high, she would eat them all, two-fisted

This is where the tale, gets somewhat rather twisted

She couldn’t eat them, fast enough, so she’d hide them beneath

Her tongue, would hold a mountain full, and even in her teeth

But, she’d given it away, what was once her greatest disguise

Instead, it looked as if this would be, candy’s quick demise

For when she tried to smile, her teeth were stuck together

And so this ends the sweetness, of a little girl named Heather

Decadence surely abounds

In a fusion of fabulous flavors

Grab a spoon, and sit right down

Something sinful, for you, to savor

Tangerines, mixed in with the cream

Makes you think you’re doing fine

Until the next day, your pants don’t fit

See, the calories are not sublime

You try to rationalize your thinking

Forget it, the damage is already done

You blew your diet, for the week

But for the moment.it was really quite fun

Jelly Jars ~ #poetry #MarchWriting

Oh my, all these jars of jelly
Too many flavors to choose

Sticky sweetness, in my belly
I better share some with my muse

She gets a bit emotional
When her sugar levels dip

Perhaps a nice PB and J
Would ease the fellowship

I’ll let her pick which one she wants
It’s better this way, I think

Or else she’ll get a bit flustered
And put up raucous stink

It’s not easy keeping her happy
Sometimes she drives me mad

So I’ll just shut her up, with sweets
And that, will make me glad!
