You sang lullabies

With the setting of the sun

Music to my eyes

A power unleashed
From this treasure, olden
Radiant light blinding, golden

Blaze in the night
Harnessing dark, unspoken
Luminous wonder, enchanting, unbroken

Awakening my soul
With visions lucent, agleam
Opening my heart, to love, to dream

I dwell in your darkness

Enticed by the fire

That does not burn me

You fascinate my eyes

Hours spent in endless drifts

Of visions through the night

I lose direction, ever following

As the colors blend to ebony

And my sight blends into you

Closing, slowly extinguishing

The brilliance of your light

jetty-593401_960_720Sunset beckons the tides to roll

Drawing you deeper into your soul

Reaching beyond the calling of day

Taking you farther and farther away

As nighttime descends upon oceans of blue

Covering waters with darkness anew

You slip past the shadows of ebony night

Awaiting the comfort of morning’s first light
