And I close my eyes and listen

To the gentle echoing sounds

Of rain splashing upon my thoughts

Amidst God’s almighty thunder

Electric lights that spark the sky

Visualize before my eyes

Ignite the colors of my sight

Take me on your frenzied flight

Across the heavens travel fast

Reaching out beyond the grasp

Of racing clouds that gather night

Sigh in beauty ever bright

snowfall-16320_960_720In the distance far behind me
A tree stands faintly showing
Wrapped within a cape of white
Amid the sharp winds blowing

My umbrella yields no shelter
As I brace against the storm
Snowflakes gather round me
Like bees about to swarm

And still I wander on the dunes
Drifting high above the ground
And lose myself in howling winds
That nary make a sound

The Fury Inside

anger, Dorinda Duclos, fury, poems, poetry, storm

Gazing out my window
The gray skies fit my mood
The air heavy with the threat
Of a storm, but is this fury
Brewing inside me or is it
Just a lingering haze
Not really worth my energy
And I impatiently wait for the
Rain to wash it all away

She is beautiful

In a wicked way

She makes the children smile

As they romp playfully about

She smirks as the rest

Struggle to find warmth

And nature trembles

As she snickers under her cold breath

No mercy in her icy grin

No comfort from the storm
