Walls that slant in faded light

Specter’s roam about the night

Shadows stand in open doors

Footsteps creak across the floors

Thinking this is just a dream

Things just aren’t what they seem

Figures lurk about your home

Now you see you’re not alone

Taunting you until you scream

Trick or treat, it’s Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  BE SAFE!

Curdling Cries – #OctoberWriting #OctPoWriMo #poetry

In this house, there is an empty room
Where a lost spirit lingers, and spies
On the only ones, who know she’s there
For they can hear her blood curdling cries

Each night, before the midnight hour
She finds herself, by the panes of glass
Pulling the drapes, aside from the wall
She lets out evil screams, en masse

The only light that shines, is far
So, no one sees her where she stands
And those below, never hear a sound
But she knows much better, firsthand

She is only meant to frighten the ones
Who dwell in this house, once hers
Determined to rid them from her abode
Every night the dreaded sound does recur

Hoping to chase them out of this place
She whispers, eerily, for this is her plight
“Get out, or I will scream forever more”
Nightmares, chase the dreams, outright

Hidden in the fog, with the morning light

Maniacal mysteries, and terrible frights

No people to see, at least no one living

Milmonyville, was a place, unforgiving

Tragic tales, of murder, filled the town

Claiming the men, who didn’t back down

Nefarious carrying on, in the streets

You best run now, go on, use your feet

Hightail it out, of the land filled with dread

But be careful where you step…

*

*

Or you could wind up dead.

Friday Fantasy ~ Forgotten Ruins – #MayWriting #poetry

Broken windows, shattered dreams

Within this house, invisible screams

Memories of those, now left behind

It’s so unfair, but life’s unkind

Pieces strewn about the halls

Crumbling pieces, of the walls

Rooms, in tatters, torn, disheveled

The forgotten ruins, of a devil

Now cast aside, this demon roars

Furniture thrown, against the door

Stairs that lead, to no certain place

A man of honor, now disgraced

What he refuses to condole…

…are the cries of every tortured soul

She cries out, into the silence

What about me?!

And nobody answers

Not even the echo of her voice

For this, this is her destiny

To be ever alone, forsaken

Left only with the sound

Of her very own screams
