Rising in the darkness
The full moon lurks
Slowly giving light
To the blackened core
Of the deepest woods

Night creatures begin to stir
Awakening, they have slept
Through the brightness
Of the summer’s day

Rustling about in the brush
With the evergreens and fronds
In watering holes and ponds
They dance with the midnight sun

Dream Angel

Sleep, my dream angel
Sweet guardian of night
Watch over my loved ones
Til morning’s first light

Light their path
With a heavenly spark
Chase away demons
Who lurk in the dark

Guide them safely
Through dreams unseen
Under azure blue skies
Above valleys so green

Keep them close
Tucked under your wing
Shelter their souls
As you let your heart sing

Let them be peaceful
With sunlight’s first glow
As exhaustion sets in
And you sleep til you know

That when you awaken
In the ebony night
You’ll keep watch once again
Til morning’s first light

Just a Number

We are just a number
Dehumanized in every way
Punched into electronic drones
No longer do we have a say

Do you know our first name?
Do you know our face?
Did you know that we are
Members of the human race

No, we are just a number
Crooked lines across the screen
Lost in a computer’s memory
Never really being seen

One last song, I begged of him

As he looked upon me, face so grim

The time has come, I can no longer play

Blackened notes, on sheets of gray

The lines now blurred upon the page

I take my leave of this earthly stage

Though my hands shall leave these ivory keys

My melody continues, in sweet rhapsody

Cauldron of fire, Flames of the night

Quench my desire, With earthly delight

Feel my power, Burn through your skin

Tame the beast, Kept hidden within

Draw me close, Release the heat

Impassioned throes, A love indiscreet

Sparks ignite a wanton heart, Caught in my fiery blast

Together as one we fall apart, Smoldering, sated at last
